Books that I do not think cover this: : 's epic heritage by Sanford Holst, or most likely any other book that suggests the title , or indicates some association with the west or modern idea

I’m no expert, but I happen to be sorta reading this about warfare in that period and area. Maybe a scholar can chime in and tell you or I if it sucks.
It seems fairly comprehensive and introduces a lot of important and surprising details. This is way out of my area of expertise, so much of it is new to me. But introduced coherently and approachable.
