Does anyone here know of a source of locating/choosing charities which obtain no government funding?
I found charitynavigator.org, which has a “top-10” list of such, but it only has 10. I didn’t see a way to locate any others.

It’s going to be kind of hard to find a list of charities where government plays no role. Most people give to charity as a tax deduction, so charity is indirectly sponsored by the state (although it is also hurt by taxation). Grey area all around.
My guess is you want examples of private charity to counter people’s arguments that capitalists are just greedy. An alternative to pointing out private charity is that free enterprise has made goods and services consistently cheaper, so that the amount of people without food/water/shelter/clothing in society goes down as the market grows. In this way, poverty is virtually eradicated except for a few very extreme cases where charity is required. Though the efficiency of the free market makes it easier for us to be charitable because the cost of charity is reduced both directly, and indirectly because everyone is wealthier and has more to give.
I don’t know if this helps by theres a website which lists the opposite -government funded charities

Take a look at the Acton Institute’s Samaritan Guide searchable online db. http://www.samaritanguide.com/
The FAQ says, “The Samaritan Guide is an online database of United States charities that accept little or no government funding and that serve vulnerable human populations.” Entries include detailed budget and funding source break down.
