That dude rocked it in that interview but seems to be a little misguided in this one:
even if his polticial ideogology is terrible, that was a good idea to bring a big ol gun to the protest.
and it is a good idea to practice open carry.
You aren’t going to see cops beating protestors in this state.
Personally, I think it’s very dangerous and lends itself to imitation by agents provocateur. “POLICE OUTGUNNED AS MILITIA MEN OPEN FIRE INTO OCCUPY CROWD.”
Guns are a tool for the production of security, not for parading around like a goon.

Good point Clayton! I always like your insight here but do hope you’re not peeking out your window every two minutes.
I was always taught not to display my weapon in public unless I was ready to use it, a wise tactic as evidenced by the laws/regulations made against it, e.g. concealed carry permits, restricted spaces, etc.
I think this is probably the next step in the OWS movement. Hegelian Dialectic and whatnot.
“Guns are a tool for the production of security, not for parading around like a goon.”
What about in your holster on your hip?
@limitgov: I’m not opposed to open carry but these people showing up uninvited with firearms are just magnets for trouble. If anything goes wrong, it will be blamed on “guns.” Exhibitionism will not solve the problem… what is needed is a shift in attitudes in the public from “the government will take care of me” to “you’re responsible for yourself!” Gun ownership naturally follows from the latter.

I have to disagree with you here Clayton. Open carry of these firearms is showing a sign of strength. My impression is, in a way it makes violence less likely to happen because with the presentation of such firearms you are confronted with the thought that you could be fired back upon if you were to open fire. This is just speculation but it is my belief that if the kids at Berkeley had this show of force, they would not have been so savagely beaten because the cops know they could not have gotten away with it.
Key word in Clayton’s post was ‘agent provocateurs’ meaning that an entity opposed to OWS could easily insert someone to rile things up a bit by blowing away a few cops which would result in an innediate and harsh crackdown on the OWS movement and loss of its credibility.
I wonder if they are ballsy enough to try anything…Ron Paul really is right with the war propaganda. They are putting out reports about Iran with increasing frequency, just waiting for one to hit the news hard and really scare people.
Perhaps the stage is being set already? Big protest planned tomorrow along with these headlines:
Zuccotti Park protester Nkrumah Tinsley arrested after threatening to burn down city
‘You’re going to see what a Molotov cocktail can do to MACY’S’… (drudge report headline)

I actually agree with you that there probably will be a gov. agent who will dress like a protester and use guns against the police to justify the start of marshal law. But, I guess its just the stubborn ass in me that says, bring the guns anyway. Don’t ever let someone bully you out of your God given freedom.
And if there is marshal law, that will only help our cause by awakening even more people’s eyes. All the government and black ops can do is continue to show their true colors.
Its cause of douche like these, that people do not take Occupy Wallstreet seriously, I cant think of any reason why someone would carry a big gun in a protest. It could lead to a stampeade.
“I cant think of any reason why someone would carry a big gun in a protest.”
Considering that there were women who were raped and assaulted in some of the protests, I can think of a reason.
