Property rights distributed with coercion & force

Two assertions are being made:

(1) Property rights were - in history - distributed with the use of coercion & force

(2) How you can build a society of liberty, when you are willing to uphold the said distribution with the same violent means.

What do people think of this. Thanks.

You mean agrarian reform. This topic’s been done several times before on this forum so I’ll be short. In most of these cases the initial act of coercion happened generations ago. The people who are using these properties now aren’t the same people who stole them in the first place. How do you think they’d feel about having their homes taken?

Playing Robin Hood, especially on a large scale like this, really can’t do anything but just cause more upheavel and resentment.

Indeed, how is it “liberty” if the slave must kill his slavemaster.

I wrote a post exactly about this problem.

The issue is resolved when one distinguishes relationships within society to relationships without.
