I want to read my first hardcore Austrian econ book, and I’m debating between Man, Economy, State or Human Action.

What do you guys suggest? Maybe a completely different book?

I would try Man, Economy, and State, but Human Action is a good alternate.

I suggest Human Action as your first. It’s excellent and easier to jump into than Murray Rothbard’s book (in my opinion, of course).

I would start with Man, Economy, & State, followed by Human Action

What are you looking for and where are you coming from? If you’re more inclined towards philosophy and have a background in the subject pick the latter of the two. If you’re looking for a more advanced and elaborated defense of a completely free market that will address many arguments of other schools of thought go with Rothbard, especially if you have a background in neoclassical economics. Usually I would suggest Man, Economy and State to begin with though, either way if you want a good understanding of the Austrian school you’re going to have to read each of them and you’ll not absorb either of them fully before reading them many times.

Indeed. The study guides are an enormous help in understanding some of the more complex and subtle points made.
