I was reading the Wikipedia entry for Rationalization (the sociological theory posited by Max Weber), and basically how it has seeped its influence into postmodern discussion. I was wondering to those here, do you think Rationalization could be a bad thing?
The tone of the article definitely seems negative towards modernization considering it is describing it from Weber’s point of view. Another term for this is “McDonaldization” and, as you may assume, this criticism is directly linked to capitalism. I just think it’s incredible naive and silly to criticize business for creating an atmosphere that is more efficient. I guess this Luddite theory states that capitalism is dehumanizing.
