Republic the ideal form of government?

A video from the JBS that portrays the ideal form of government as a Republic, not to mention ties anarchy as undesirable like oligarchy and monarchy.

A republic is an illusion. Rule of law is most often an apologetic device for the rule of men. The notion of a Republic is a vain attempt to create a middle ground between democracy and oligarchy. Of course, such a balance is impossible to truly reach or sustain. In a so-called “republic”, the government is nonethelss still an oligarchy and the “balance” is always going to be tipped in one of two directions: towards more democracy or towards dictatorship, and of course the limited process of democracy in a republic can very well lead to dictatorship. Oh, and the John Birch Society is a horrid institution.

Such an assertion reminds me of the old saying that opinions are like a$$holes - everyone has one. If JBS thinks a ‘Republic’ is fine, then he and all those like minded folks who want to play ‘Republic’ should do so AND leave the rest of us alone - thank you very much.
