Don’t you love how early on in the show Swanson is portrayed as being uncaring, but as he gets more screentime we get to see that he really does care about his friends? For example, in the fourth season when Andy is considering going back to college it’s Swanson who ends up paying for his (Andy’s) tuition. They should have used it as a chance to emphasize how libertarians are willing to be charitable to help others.

The filmmakers lost all their cred when the yellow shirt dad actually said “you don’t think that the government does a good job with the schools?” They could have easily built their straw man without jumping off that cliff. Now they’re just playing polemics.
