It seems to me that the war in Georgia is a perfect example highlighting the fallacy that Democracies will not go to war. I’ve never subscribed to the idea that Russia is an autocratic dictatorship, it is a democracy, its President is elected by the people just as the US Presidency is (and also Georgia). Yet these shared democracies provoked a war. The US wanted to expand its empire to the borders of Russia and Russia wanted to reclaim its empire back.
What is everyone elses opinion on this, is this a good example of the myth of the democratic peace?
