The election is comming up soon and we got two choices and they are bad ones. Obama and Romney
Two peices of crap canidates that I realy dont want to vote for either of them. However Obama has been horrible and needs to get voted out and as much as it pains me to say it voting for Mitt may be the only way to do that. I hate the guy and I dont want to vote for him but am conflicted because i want obama out of office so bad. If to many people write in a name instead of voting for romney Obama would get four more years which would be horrible. I want to write in but I am tempted to vote for mitt for this reason.
What are you going to do? vote for mitt or write in a name.
There’s another solution. Stay home. More and more people all over the world have discovered what a waste of time is choosing your dictators after they have told you what they think you want to hear. Since you are going to get raped financially anyway (and possibly in the true sense of the word if you travel by air), at least withdraw consent and refuse to take part in the scam.
Personally, I’m not sure. I’m positive I won’t be voting for Mitt or Barrack. I might agree with Kakugo.
However, consider, if Obama really is that bad, wouldn’t he bring about the change that is ultimately needed? As in, the fall of the American Empire? The awakening of the People? I’m not saying he is or isn’t. But why put it off. Unless you’re satisfied with the kind of government it turns out that we have.
The write-in rules in NC specify that if your write-in was a candidate that was defeated, then your vote does not count. Unless you’re planning on writing in someone who wasn’t in the primaries, you may as well not vote. However, there are more choices besides the R & D, and while the possibility of any of the other candidates winning are slim to none, at least there are other options.
I won’t be voting for Obama or Romney. The Libertarian party candidate Gary Johnson has my vote.
I normally write in my friend Nathan for any federal position. I normally vote as there are always tax increases on the ballot that I disagree with to such a degree and I would never forgive myself if my failure to vote caused a tax increase when most increases are passed a margin of less than 500 in a city the size of Cincinnati.
On a serious note just imagine if more people actually did that; that if even a small faction of this apathetic country all voted for themselves. I think it would start to get a point across.
Phi est aureum has the best answer in this thread, in the vein of Molyneux. People learn from experience; starving them of that experience is counterproductive. Spreading ideas about liberty and letting the State make a fool of itself to no end seems the best long-term course.
Why is it that Mitt is the “lesser of the two evils”? Mitt was a buddy of Netanyahu back in his college days and is probably more likely to start a war with Iran. (Not to mention the fact that he’s probably going to be the same economically.)
I’m not advocating voting for Obama, just throwing out my two cents.
I work for a large tech company. One of the ways they pretend to keep management under control is through the use of anonymous manager surveys where we can choose Agree/Disagree to a fixed set of questions. But the “secret” of the survey is that the company is more concerned about how many employees actually fill out the survey than about the specific answers given in the survey. In other words, a manager who gets “low turnout” among his employees has a more serious issue than a manager who gets negative answers to the survey questions.
The same is true of our bullshit system of government. Participating in the elections is keeping up the pretense that there is some kind of “choice” within the system. I’m not saying that all political action is a waste of time but voting is one thing that is definitely a waste of time. It’s just a religious rite whose purpose is to reinforce the founding delusions of our political system through herd psychology… everybody’s doing it, so it must matter.
I don’t think it’s immoral or even un-libertarian to vote but I think that encouraging people to stop voting - especially at the Federal level - is one of the most powerful ways we can gum up the works on the subversive end of things. I don’t think our figureheads - such as RP - should encourage people not to vote because the statists will play that as “anti-freedom” or “crypto-fascist”. But I personally recommend to everyone in this thread: don’t vote. Tell your friends not to vote. Post it on your facebook if that’s the kind of thing you do. “Don’t vote, it’s a scam!”
