Curious to see how anarchists on here believe King Solomon should have acted in his famous ruling.
16 Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17 One of them said, “Pardon me, my lord. This woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was there with me. 18 The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us.
19 “During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him. 20 So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast. 21 The next morning, I got up to nurse my son—and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn’t the son I had borne.”
22 The other woman said, “No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours.”
But the first one insisted, “No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine.” And so they argued before the king.
23 The king said, “This one says, ‘My son is alive and your son is dead,’ while that one says, ‘No! Your son is dead and mine is alive.’”
lol Good answer. However, I meant while being Solomon and being in that exact time period under the exact same circumstance (hence without DNA testing capabilities).
If Solomon were an anarchist, then he wouldn’t be king. The two women would have had to voluntarily pay for the service of rendering a judgement. Killing the child would not be a reasonable judgement, so Solomon, being wise, would have come up with a different method to determine who the real mother was.
The story of Solomon declaring that the child be cut in two was merely provided to demonstrate his wisdom. In an anarchist world, the story would be different.
Who made the claim Solomon was an anarchist? Obviously he wasn’t. If you’re responding in relation to my title, I mean to compare Solomon’s choice to one that anarchy or anarchists would prefer. Basically, how would the story be different in “an anarchist world”?
I presumed you had a positive atitude to anarchists. I am neutral so far. No judgement was assumed.
I’ll explain what I was thinking before I wrote those q’s: Why can’t an anarchist do what Solomon did, mainly pretend that the judgement is to cut the kid in half and see the responses? I see no reason. Maybe the OP [like another poster here] forget the story and thought the kid was actualy sliced in two. Better clarify this and ask the OP.
From the other posts, I see that the problems may be
An anarchist judge has no power of life and death, so his pretend threat would be seen through.
An anarchist judge would charge $350 an hour.
An anarchist judge might not be as wise as King Solomon.
Solutions:
He could find some other way to make being the mom a lot of trouble. Maybe something like “I award the boy to whomever will let me be her pimp and keep her earnings.” Then see who says forget the whole thing.
