Just a quick question concerning standard oil and other monopolies.
I heard they where created by the government but I do not understand how. Can some please explain that to me?
Thank You

Start on page 40 of the book, 56 of the PDF. It’s all in there.

Standard Oil seems to be a company that has always used aggressive legal tactics against competition, perhaps because of its position as the mightiest of the seven sisters.
In the 1970s Standard Oil attempted to take over against Occidental Petroleum. They dropped their case when Occidental showed by sbpoaening Standard’s records that their intention was to drive out independents out of the market.
In 2008 its successor, Mobil/Exxon, convinced a British court to freeze 12 billion pounds worth of assets belonging to Petróleos de Venezuela in Great Britain. A higher British court fortunately reversed that decision recently.
I am sure there must be dozens of additional similar cases concerning Standard´s-Exxon/Mobil predatory practices.
