Strategies for protecting 401K Wealth

This may be more of a financial question but I have not seen anyone tackle what to do with one’s 401K under the conditions of a serious inflation. If I think of it with as my bank account then I should liquidate it and buy Gold and assets.

But what kind of assets?

Not liquidating means investing in a limited number of 401k investment options, which may all be bad under inflation.

Can anyone point to where to find some strategies or offer some?

I guess the best bet would be to pull out and take the penalties. I haven’t been able to pull the trigger myself. If your plan allows a no penalty loan you may want to think about that as a way to get some of your money out and invest it in a more stable option. However if your company has a matching plan, even if you take some or all out I would continue to invest whatever the max they will match is pretax.
