Hey, I just applied for the Mises summer fellowship program and I was wondering if anyone else is going to apply?
The Rothbard Graduate Seminar or the Summer Residency Fellowship?
Residency. I’m trying to get in the big leagues.
I’m applying as well by Tuesday. Just getting my research proposal and recommendations in order. I hope it’ll be enough. Since I am basically finishing my 4 year education in two years, I hadn’t time to apply for the smaller Mises conferences last year. On the other hand, I have research experience and material science publications, as well as other technical writing experience in a peer-reviewed journal (also material science). Hopefully that won’t count against me that its in other field.
As for economics, I’m 15 credits/180 credits from my B.s. major. I’ve read and made notes of most of the stuff on this site, and went through most of the references. Finished all stuff by Mises, Kirzner, Hayek, Jevons, Hoppe,etc. I’m completing authors like Einaudi, Leoni, Lachmann by the summer. One book a day minimum (difficult stuff like Mises 1912 I remember I spread over a couple of weeks to make good notes, while I also read other monographs)!
I hopefully we both get in and meet.

I like my two-volume set of Man,Economy, and State (First Edition!). I remember that also took I about a month to make working notes.

Key is to read several books at once, while you read the complex works. Example: Clapham’s Histories of Britain are each volume 6 times as thick as either T.S. Ashton’s Industrial Revolution or Carlo Cipolla’s Guns, Sails, and Empires; but the later have more original theses to investigate, hence I read the first in a day while the others required a serious week each.
So I count the first as in the one a day category, always meeting the goal more or less. [:P]
I am pretty unclear on all the different programs offered by LvMI, and who is supposed to attend what.
From what I gather, there is the Austrian Scholars Conference, Rothbard Graduate Seminar, Mises University, the Summer Fellowship, and now the online Academy.
I love listening to as much of the audio files as I can get my hands on, but what else going on at these things and why do people go?
There are also the Mises Circles that are hosted in different cities around the USA.
