Hi, I’m looking for anything in the Constitution that is used as justification for federally funded art. The only thing I could think of that comes close is under Section 8, but only involves IP.
It remotely impacts interstate commerce.
there isn’t anything. I see the IP in Section 8 too, but that’s to protect what is described as the ‘Author’s right’, thus, IP legalities as you pointed out. Therefore that’s not a question of funding, but what the government arbitrarily decrees as a legal question. Funding is a whole other story. I don’t know of any funding the federal government can partake of outside of funding their own bureaucracy, and the post office and roads (both of the federal government so of such kind, ie. federal highways).
