How do the physically or mentally disabled sustain themselves in an anarcho-capitalist system?
your lumping a whole lot of people into a category. There are varying levels of physical and mental handicap, no?
Charity would have a large part to play, but without things like minimum wage laws, all people would be free to try and be as productive and useful as they possibly could be in the work force.
Aside from charity, a free market would result in more efficient medical research, hastening the curing and, ultimately, elimination of such conditions. Also, the elimination of artificial barriers to employment would ensure that even those of low productivity and/or high time preference would be able to find work in some capacity, such as the Down’s Syndrome sufferers who worked on farms, Stephen Hawking’s work on physics or the career of the Elephant Man.

The free market, through capital investment, is the reason these people are even alive today ><
A free market would mitigate many of the causes of disability.
As someone who has spent time with disabled charities. They would be well taken care of. There are many private groups and people who dedicate them voluntarily.
The more free a market is, the more people can take care of themselves. The more free a market is, the more wealth people have to share with less and less people who are in desperate need.
Could you elaborate on that claim? I’d be interested in fully understanding this logic process.

People are incredibly inventive and creative when it comes to making a buck. However when the market is not free because of “regulations”, they cannot do what they want. Everything is done to keep out the newcomer. White collar jobs needs a fancy diploma and license, blue collar jobs need union membership, and dummy jobs need to be productive enough to deserve a minimum wage. Opening a business is also regulated to death to keep out newcomers.
Farm subsidies keep food prices artificially high.
Taxes suck the money away from everyone at all levels.
Toss out the regulations and taxes and people will work and hire each other without much fanfare. Most people can do SOMETHING, even the severely handicapped. And the little they make will be enough to buy the now inexpensive food.
People in third world countries live on pennies a day, and are happy more or less. Why can’t this happen in the USA?

Because a free market means the only way you make money is by giving people what they want. You can’t make money by allying yourself with the forces of violence [=govt] who steal without producing anything useful. If the only way anyone can make a buck is by producing something useful, what do you think will happen to the stock of useful things in the country [i.e. the country’s wealth]?

The more free a market is, the cheaper goods will be because they aren’t interfered by parasitic and obstructionist regulations; and also because there will be increased competition, and more information out there for consumers (due to free market regulation) which rewards good entrepreneurs better and punishes bad entrepreneurs better than in a hampered and protectionist market. When goods are cheaper to acquire then it is easier to save (consume less than you produce), and so there is more savings for investment. More investment (expressed in real wealth, not in phony paper tickets) means cheaper and better goods still. More real investment also means more and better jobs.
All of this allows people to better take care of themselves and to better take care of others because things are cheaper and people have more wealth.
And I didn’t even touch upon fact how socialism/redistributionism incentivizes and traps people in helpless dependency.

I imagine parents could take out birth defect insurance when they are pregnant. Insurance companies would want to make sure their clients do everything possible to to and make sure that their kids are not born with them (smoking and drinking while pregnant, etc) It would also force more research/innovation in the birth process (if that is where some of these problems come from (I have no idea, but have heard theories))
Then if your child is born with special needs you file the claim that pays out in a manner that can help you as parents raise your child in the best possible environment.
