cotland is drowning in socalist dogma which pains me so much to see my native land killed by the likes of the SNP.It’s hard to completely love a country that gave the world Adam smith the moderate,Tony Blair,Gordon Brown,Jonh Maclean,the Scottish Socialist party,Tommy Sheridan,Alasdair gray and others.Scotland’s history lacks so much alot of classical liberals that even England has(the most is the afore mentioned Adam Smith and a Scottish classical liberal Thomas Mackay (it appears the liberty fund have got it muddled and think he’s English), lord Kames,James Mill and a few others.

I don’t know why I have this impression, that every Libertarian to ever walk this earth has been either Stoch or Hebrew. Such a pity that and are so off the mark. But times change, and il sangue non e acqua.

Japan is not as heavily unionised as United States is, where the United Auto Workers Union earns six figure earnings in terms of all salaries, benefits, and other perks, not to mention seven-months paid vacations each year, and job banks to be maintained where they can continue earning that money when they don’t have jobs.

I agree. This is the kind of insane socialist measures by the government that have led to the alienation and disillusionment of freedom-loving, small-government Americans with the state.

If freedom has to survive anywhere, it has to be here where it was born.

I saw a “Proud to be an American” bumper sticker the other day and wondered who would put such a sticker on their car today. We are emulating Nazi Germany in our behavior. We invade foreign nations without just cause, massacre their populations, destroy their infrastructure, torture our prisoners, have a subjugated press; our economy is increasinlgly based on building weapons of war, and to top it all off, it’s all based on a massive lie (9/11-INSIDE JOB). We have taken the best constitution yet devised by man and surrendered it without so much as a whimper. We have gone from the home of the free and the brave to a rapidly developing police state-all with the apparent blessings of the citizenry. We have at least 8 if not all 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto alive and well here in the “Proud to be an American” USA. So, do your part , be a good American-- be afraid, be very afraid.

You should probably do some research on the Constitution. Here’s a place to start:

If anything the Constitution singlehandedly paved the way to centralization and big government. Most people don’t know this.

Off Topic: Yesterday my (fascist) told me that natural rights don’t extend to freedom of speech or property rights. She asked me if I have something to hide sibce I’m against the Patriot Act. Then once again, she told me to leave the country, revoke my rights, my citizenship and go to Switzerland.

She also told me that every institution of education should be public, not private.

She told me that “when you are wrong, just admit it.” She was like, " I’ve read the Constitution many times and you have no idea what you are talking about."

Sadly enough, she’s 24 and has been out of college for quite some time. Again, this has just fueled my hatred for Fox News…The funny thing is she identifies herself as “Conservative”, which just makes me laugh.

If you are wondering what happened to the conversation, she kept trying to bring up the public vs private school debate. But, I was eager to switch topics after that.

Funny thing was, she got so mad and I was very calm.

What even less people realize is that the american revolution cannot be defended as libertarian,same goes for the american civil war.

English classical liberalism was far ahead and far more uncompromising than American liberty. England was ahead in promoting free trade and free enterprise for far longer than Americans did. Like Americans, the English too made heavy compromises on their values of liberty: while England had Enclosure Acts, America had protectionism. The difference is that the degree of liberty and the strength of the tradition of it was there longer in England. Scottish and Irish liberals were even more radical in beliefs in liberty. France is virtually a communist state now, and its revolution was founded on bloody mob rule, but French liberals have been there for a long time, and anarchists have also been a long present group in France. This liberal tradition has been there in western Europe - not dominant, but there - for longer and before America was even constituted as a nation.

Either way, liberty is natural, not granted by government.

Nothing wrong with that. No reason to believe the person with the sticker thinks being an American is about invading foreign nations.
