I was just joking. I wasn’t saying anything out of anger, maybe he was I don’t know (nor do I care). Anyway, how about that commercial?
To everyone: keep it clean and stay on topic.
I shall try not to go over the top with the thread-jacking, but I have to defend myself publicly, seeing how grievances against me were also aired publicly. I hope that’s not crossing the line, and I will keep it civil.
He’s new and thinks he can troll around.
By your broad definition of trolling, your response would be what? Counter-trolling? I’d recommend dropping the topic, mate. I’m not insulting anyone, or calling anyone names; the OP took my comments about his spelling more lightly than you did as a bystander. That really doesn’t put you in a position to comment about my supposed passive-aggression. Regarding my response to you in that other thread, how about addressing that grievance with me in a PM, instead of taking that matter to a different thread and complaining to others?
Also: I have to apologize for something I said earlier. Apparently, I did say that careless spelling was worse than trivializing eco-fascism, but I think you can’t blame me for hoping that would be understood in the spirit it was being meant, namely as not-entirely-serious hyperbole. Thusly, you weren’t putting words in my mouth, but you still could have taken that a bit less seriously.
I wasn’t saying anything out of anger, maybe he was I don’t know (nor do I care).
You’re right not to care, but just in case someone else does, I’ll say: I wasn’t either. I might have been a bit irritated, but there’s a long stretch between irritation and anger, as I try to save the latter - and would recommend the same to others - for important things.
EDIT: I tried to get back on the topic of that commercial, but I feel I have already stated my case. If the OP insists, we shall take this to private messages from now on.
@assimil
Nope, I think everything has been resolved. Anyway, I am ignoring anything that has nothing to do w/ the topic on hand from here on out.
Point being though, assuming it was poking fun of eco-nazis, even if it wasn’t funny, how often does the green cause get made fun of on TV? That alone is why the commercial could have been awsome. Of course, I am confused about the actual message the commercial intended to get across.
even if it wasn’t funny, how often does the green cause get made fun of on TV?
I see what you mean, mate. I’m going to cautiously claim that this alone made the commercial praiseworthy, even though I (we?) didn’t find it funny.
They made fun of the eco-fascists, which should make it clear enough that they disapproved of such practices, and then claimed that their car was eco-friendly enough even to appease even those idiots.
Also, I take back what I said earlier about this commercial trivializing eco-fascism. I think that it was a knee-jerk reaction to the heavy-handed and unfunny approach to satire in the commercial being discussed; it didn’t follow that satirizing equaled trivializing an issue. Saying that eco-fascism wasn’t a menace would be trivializing it, and saying that this was implied in the commercial would be a stretch.
