What’s even more tragic is the way you misspelled that company’s name, after just having looked at their commercial. I bet you’re one of those people who type Volkswagen as Volkswagon.
On topic: while I do realize that this commercial is probably supposed to be satire (heavy-handed and unfunny as it is), what is the message here? It’s like they’re saying they’re going to bend over backwards to please what could be called the Green Nazis.
It’s like they’re saying they’re going to bend over backwards to please what could be called the Green Nazis
That was my point. I found it confusing. But if it was supposed to be a satire against the greenies, even if it was heavy handed, how often do you see anything on TV that is that anti-green? And if it wasn’t anti green satire what the hell does that say?
As for the misspelling: Duder,it was 1 little silent “e”. “Tragic” is a bit dramatic of a word. I am no doctor, but I would recomend taking a chill pill.
If they were making fun of anybody, then the joke is on us. They were basically saying: Our car passes the Fascist police test. This is not really a joke. It’s more of a tragedy.
The upbeat soundtrack doesn’t seem in line with a parody at all. The over-the-top stuff in the video does seem to be making fun of it all. But then the way they present their own car inside this fascist bubble doesn’t seem to be joking at all.
My verdict would be that Audi is being extremely untasteful for joking around with environmental fascism, and portraying it as cool and hip.
Although this commercial stood out the most during the Super Bowl, I noticed that a lot of the commercials were completely, stupefyingly retarded. Moreso than usual. Over the years, it seems as if commercials tend more and more to resemble a sledgehammer striking your skull. The best/worst thing about this commercial is that they make fun of statism and legitimize it simultaneously.
I don’t need to chill, but I’m just sort of what you’d call a grammar Nazi (which is just another way of saying I care for how I type or otherwise communicate). I mean no offense, but still I had to say something, especially because I thought it was indicative of carelessness.
I was totally disgusted by this commercial for its glorification of eco-fascism and making light of the issue of police abusing their authority. I felt like I was watching the television programming from V for Vendetta for a minute there. I think I’ll boycott Audi because of this. Perhaps we should raise a stink and let Audi know how dissatisfied we are with the commercial? I bet if it was publicized by LRC, CFL, etc. we could get some sort of apology from them. We could send a message to other corporations that this sort of thing isn’t appreciated.
They’re already getting tons of flack in the comments section and on their channel comments (they have a whole channel with this kind of stuff: http://www.youtube.com/user/greenpolice ).
People need to understand that corporations spew gibberish. Me and my friend made the mistake of going to a KFC, and posted on the wall was a bunch of random words that they hoped us to associate with their chicken. Which wasn’t very good.
Words like “football”, “fun”, “travel”, “friends”.
This commercial is the same thing, they aren’t really talking about politics in the same way we do, they are talking about how their car is sexy and green-nuts will leave you alone.
I’m willing to stick out my neck and claim that poor reading comprehension, putting words into people’s mouths or a bad sense of humor are far worse than careless spelling. Not as bad as eco-fascism, though.
You tell him to take a chill pill, but then you say I am being dramatic? I don’t appreciate such inconsistency.
edit: And yes, that guy is quite serious with his aggression and passive aggression. He’s new and thinks he can troll around. It’s really not normal humor. Example: The History Channel Challenge - #12 by assimilateur
