This is my first draft. Any ideas? My purpose is to raise awareness of the existence of this great work, to promote the Institute, and hopefully nudge people toward a greater curiosity of the accepted versions of history. If I have to pay to get it thrown in, I will.
A Great Resource for Social Studies Reports
Your child has probably not done his last report in history or social studies class. It can be a challenge sorting through books at the library looking for various sources. Sometimes it is difficult to find enough facts to round out the paper and teachers rightly say you cannot use only an encyclopedia. One great resource is the four volume set Conceived in Liberty by Murray N. Rothbard. It is nearly 1600 pages of extensive content covering the European discovery of up through the Revolutionary war. While some history books spend a single paragraph mischaracterizing an Indian uprising called “King Philip’s War”, Rothbard writes eleven pages explaining a much fuller account of that single event. The best part about it, though, is that you can read and download it for free from www.mises.org because Rothbard didn’t believe in copyright. You can then use the “Find” function to jump right to the pages where your topic is mentioned. You can also download chapters from the first two volumes for your mp3 player if you’re the on the go type. While you’re there, take a look around at the other books or articles. They were rightfully critical of Bush’s economic and war policy the last 8 years, and now they’re equally critical of Obama’s.
