Will it be illegal to threat people with violating their rights in a libertarian society? I cannot find valid arguments why this should not be allowed, as long as you’re not actually putting your threats into action.
There is absolutely no way in hell I would associate with someone who constantly threatens me or people I know.

I think Walter Block says that threatening with violence, murder etc, should be iilegal.

My take on the issue goes something like this. When a person raises their hand in order to hit you they have not yet committed a crime but they show the intention of committing one in the near future. In order to shield yourself from their oncoming attack you use physical force to restrain that person. The same applies to verbal threats. If someone threatens to aggress upon your person or property you have every right to defend it. So if you see that person walking towards your home you have every reason to believe his intentions are malicious and to do what you feel is necessary to protect yourself, your family, and any property you feel is in danger.

In my opinion no. When caught the thief would owe storekeeper a bag of candy and payment for the time he devoted to caughting him.

I actually tend to agree with bschraders, since there’s no guerantee that the thief will be caught, and if not, you’ve lost property. I also think the thief should be forced to pay for the bullet and potential damage if he survives.
The punishment should always reflect the crime that has been commited. If someone steals a bag of candy and attempts to peacefully exit the store you have every right to restrain them but the use of potentially deadly force isn’t merited here. If the same person comes into the store pulls out a weapon and demands that everyone start loading his truck full of candy is a different story. In this case the use of deadly force is probably the best solution because the person is basically telling you that you do not have the right to not be shot. Therefore he is revoking his own right not to be shot.

No, that would be like saying execution is legitimate punishment for every crime committed.
There’s absolutely no reason why I have to make that determination while the perpetrator is on my property. The difference between sneaking out a bag of chips and loading up a truck at gunpoint is completely arbitrary. He’s the aggressor and should be ready for any consequence.
Execution implies coercion. Therefore executions have no place in a libertarian society. A criminal like this (if I didn’t shoot him) would be ordered to make me “whole” again financially. If he doesn’t comply he would face boycotting/shunning by the community.
This is multiple part question.
Do you find it legitimate (would you do it?)
Do you find others who do it legitimate (would you support or shun someone who did it?)
Would it be profitable (would a PDA/Arbitrator sanction it punish it?)
Based on the answers to these, you may come up with a complicated view of what a Libertarian society may look like.

I think your position suffers from a lack of proportionality. The punishment should fit the crime, and as your life certainly isn’t being threatened, you have no right to shoot the petty thief.
