I have been reading Mises articles and blog posts for about a year now, but have never posted. Anyway, my question is:
I have seen a number of pundits, commenting on the “crisis,” who emphasize the need for greater transparency in financial markets. Does this call for greater transparency coincide with Austrian/libertarian theory? How would the Austrian school prescribe that transparency be improved?
I ask because I know that Austrians/libertarians are opposed to regulation in general. Is the transparency issue just another symptom of excessive credit expansion? Or is there something that government should legitimately do to ensure greater transparency?
