According to the Wall Street Journal, union membership dropped by 10%. Total union labor in the labor force now stands at 7.2%. I thought the following two quotes were very revealing about the nature of unions:

The drop is on par with the fall in total employment but threatens to significantly limit labor’s ability to influence elections and legislation.

And:

With those issues on shaky ground, unions are now expected to focus their political energy on job creation, in hopes that new jobs will be union jobs.

Maybe the unemployed need to form a union of their own. [:D]

you know, this is fantastic news, best I’ve heard in years. Unions are death.

“Laborers” stop being voters when not in a union? News to me. Then again this is collectivist thinking in action.

The correct report was “Organized labor lost 10% of its members in the private sector last year”.

Remember more than half of all union members are government employees.

I’m sure someone will find a way to use this statistic as a major factor “making the recession worse because people have less to spend”.

But it’s a miracle that it will “threaten to significantly limit labor’s ability to influence elections and legislation” - that’s great news! Those criminals even managed to get special treatment in this idiotic zombie health care bill that just won’t die. (Why did they want to be treated differently? Could it be because the health care bill sucks and is going to screw everyone else over?)

And “unions are now expected to focus their political energy on job creation” - oh the irony, shutting themselves down would be a great start. haha!
