Canada has a lot going for it. Open spaces, friendly people, lots of resources, a tradition of peace.
But the government is becoming just as much a police state as elsewhere it’s just being done more slowly. Suppressing the people, and controlling citizens in order to maintain monopoly government structures is the order of the day.
They like the health care and other “freebies.”
Canada is actually ranked as one of the top 5 freest countries in the world, often higher than the U.S.

Quebec is also one of the place (if not the one) in north america where you are most likely to have the state take away your children from you. It is something like 3 times more likely than in Ontario, 9 times more than in England, and 15 times more than in Spain.

The question is “which immigrants?” Most immigrants that come to Canada come from poor 3rd world country. Few americans or west Europeans come immigrate to Canada anymore.
It’s not that Canada is a “preferred destination”, it’s because Canada has very easy immigration policies, where requirements are much lower than other industrialized countries.
Quite the opposite, Canada has been experience a sustain “brain drain” (this is well publicized in Canada) where the most productive citizen have been emigrating to the US to escape the punitive fiscal burned, including former poor immigrants, who once having received heavily subsidized education flee to the US for employment.
Only few provinces such as Alberta had such low unemployment, but that’s an unfair comparison, since US states also vary in the unemployment statistics. Generally speaking, unemployment is higher in Canada than the US.

No. Canada offers a better life than the 2nd and 3rd world, but nowhere near the opportunity that the US has. What Canada offers is a guarantee that you will always have clothes, housing, food, education and health care. Good luck trying to run or startup a small business.

Your rant seems to mix a lot of things that I won’t reply to, but the general ideal in my opinion would be for the native americans to succeed and form their own country.

And they can forget about their eternal claim for all the land, some of it was stolen (as everywhere else), some of it was bought off by europeans (such as the bay of toronto) - which the native americans still complain about (not strong on property rights and title transfer), and the vast majority of it was never homesteaded: there’s just so much a few thousand people using primitive means can do in a territory the size of Canada.

First you identify the variables surrounding the situation you want to make a decision about. Next you put the variables into the order in which they occur. Next you study these variables with regard to frequencies of occurance, and give them their respective values. What has happened in the situation you’ve studied is illustrated by your study. You can verify the study by looking at the current situation, and if your study has predicted the present situation with accuracy, then you can make a valid statement about the present. Future predictions can be stated upon the condition that the variables remain the same. Unfortunately life sometimes throws new variables at us, changing the situation. or the variables change in frequency of occurance. future is difficult to predict with absolute accuracy. You can make a valid statement one day, which may not be valid the next, because time changes all things, thus we have transgenic truths, which are often confused with absolute truths. In which case we think we are correct, when in fact we are mistaken. Since we are all of us together in this world, getting along can only be had by respecting everyone and everything around you.
