What kinds of 'enhanced awareness' methods do libertarians favor?

There’s a group called Fetlife which achieves an enhanced awareness through being submissive, which I don’t agree with at all.

The only other ‘enhanced awareness’ I know of is LSD and enhancing your awareness through the use of psychedelic drugs. Psychedelic Psychotherapy.

There’s also the classic ‘enlightment’ through understanding, and mass meditation.

I prefer the classic enlightenment. I’ve never been a fan of drugs or any of those other things. I think once you understand the corrupt forces that are guiding the world and the lies and deceit I think you will be able to reach enlightenment.

Its a lot more then that though dude. Don’t let the U.S’s stigma of them get to you, LSD has a profound psychological effect on you. The after effect has your mind trained to think beyond its limits with more analytical thinking.

There have been studies that shown that people who take drugs also see things like Pink Elepehants and think they see demons come to their bedrooms.

Um… none.

I don’t think libertarians as a group favor any specific method of “enhanced awareness,” nor do I think that libertarians as a group favor “enhanced awareness” at all, in the first place.

lol nice. There’s nothing quite like some good ole straight edge punk. (;

Spoken like a real Leary disciple. I’d like a list of the brilliant contributions to the world by people “enlightened” by LSD.

Ummm…no.

Look, if you like LSD–fine. But don’t try to bullshit your way about this by claiming it expands your mind. Just be honest and say you like it. Bullshit apologetics are neither required nor useful, as there’s nothing inherently wrong on any level about taking such substances. I realize that you believe you have to justify your usage to a society (as it were) which has been brainwashed into frowning upon it. Please don’t insult us here with such nonsense.

Read some Aldous Huxely :stuck_out_tongue:

I prefer martial arts. Specifically, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I feel that my mind reaps great benefits from engaging in such a complex, physically strenuous endevour. It helps me be more creative and my reading comprehension shoots through the roof.

I think every Libertarian should at least try some kind of individual, competitive sport. Teams sports never appealed to me.

Honestly, drugs fuck you up. I know that’s language unbecometh of a mod, but seriously, don’t do drugs. Not even relatively harmless drugs like pot or tobacco.

Eddie Bravo rolled when he was high.

I find I’m at my most lucid after a few beers. (Unknown fact, Rothbard was tripping on acid when he wrote Man, Economy and State).

I enjoyed smoking quite a bit. I found it slowed everything down for me. But for obvious health reasons, I quit.

Now I find fasting really helps me clear my mind and find a happy place.

As much as I dislike LSD ,or defending this dude’s loopy posts; there is at least some possability that Francis Crick was using mild doses of LSD for inspiration while working on his DNA reseach.

Mexican red bud ruined smoking for me. :frowning:

A lot of artists, and musicians. There isn’t really a list I can provide. Being “enlightened” is like trying to chart the world’s most analytical thinkers. You really can’t tell what goes on inside them. Several great artists and musicians however have admitting to smoking marijuana or doing LSD.

Also, LSD is only something you should do 2-3 times in your life. It isn’t something you can normally get addicted to. Leary even said that “Once you find the answer, hang up the phone”. I know it isn’t for everyone, but LSD provokes your thoughts a lot, and causes you to be more analytical. If your trip is successful, the intense experience will give you a new outlook on everything not as intense.

A lot of the drug addicts that do it, just do it because they want to sit around all day and not get a job. They never knew what the acid bus, or the rainbow people movement was about.

Psychedelic Drugs, are different among other drugs. Just like any other drug, correct usage requires control. When I smoke pot, I do it while listening to music or playing my synthesizer or guitar. I don’t just sit around and smoke it with friends, it even relaxes me when I’m stressed out from schoolwork. Marijuana is also non addictive, the effects make you not want to do it all the time, but if you push for an addiction then it kills the good time of being high.

Why do you feel the need to escape this reality in order to achieve an answer to your question? The answer is in this universe, don’t try to escape it to find it somewhere else. I always thought a nice well written book and some solitary time digesting the words and ideas of it to be a thought provoking experience.

Bob Barr prefers prefers sensory deprivation tank. Wayne Allan Root auto-erotic asphixiation.

The former made Barr more XTREME. Root, however, merely cut off circulation to his brain for a bit too long.
