Hi guys,
I’m looking to do a little research, to test and conceptualize a few things. However, I am having trouble finding adequate data.
I need historical Market Capitalisation and Shares Outstanding for NYSE. I’m looking for these for the S&P500, however I know this could be hard given they change which stocks are apart of it from time to time, so I’d settle for this data on the ETF SPY, though later I would need to find the other data (since SPY only goes back to 1993).
This could work with other stock markets also, if another market has better data, I’d just have to change my index of choice.
I have looked at what Google and Yahoo provide, and googled a few other sources, however it seems they focus on Volume and Price. If I had Market Cap and Price I could easily calculate Shares outstanding, so that could work also.
Perhaps this is not the right forum, but it is one of the best I know. If there’s a better forum for finding out about this sort of thing, I’d like to know.
