After watching some late night Tony Montana I began thinking of something. Currently, it is considered one of the highest crimes if someone kills a police officer. Even the public knows that the police forces will dedicate additional resources to catching you, thus police offers killing is typically small and avoided.
Do you think the same would hold under private police agencies?
I would assume that if the supply of labor was high then police officer killings would not be pursued as intensely i.e. labor is cheap. Yet, I would assume that such a stigma against cop-killing is good for business and makes the public think twice before killing one.
Private security agencies would be under the highest scrutiny of all business. They would have to devote a lot of resources to show people that they are acting properly and justly. They could not afford to get a low rating, it would lose them all their business and drive insurance costs through the roof.
Subsequently, harming these agencies would be regarded far worse than today.
Where do these “additional resources” come from? They pull police from doing other things. Who will hire an agency which will lower the quality of services offered while they run after something that does not affect their paying clients?
