You guys are right

I like to have power as well, I just couple that with ethics so that I can determine when it is just to use that power and when it is not.

The two are not mutually exclusive, in fact, they compliment each other.

Felker, reality is shades of gray. It’s not 1’s and 0’s. Before we can continue this I suggest you read Bart Kosko’s Fuzzy Thinking. It’s an analogy to quantum physics which talks about superposition. How at a very small level, things can be in more than one place at once. It’s very interesting. It’s what lead me to what you call “moral nihilism.” Before you’ve read that though, I don’t think we can continue to discuss politics because you see everything in black and white and I don’t. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

you are mister tangent arent you? well are you an advocate for minimal cancer? I am an advocate for the abolishment of cancer. please clearly state why you feel that even if medical science eradicates all cancer, we should have some minimal level of cancer introduced. we are still talking about government arent we?

  1. let me check my calender to see whether you said that today or not. moron

  2. because of you and your like!

  3. trash. why should I expect a slaver to be well read… how whimsical of me.

wtf did you used to think beforehand ?!? the mind boggles. We are the same apart from you want to enslave people and i dont.

Ethics are limitations of a weird sort. Power coupled with an understanding of cause and effect seems to me to be more functional. Effect becomes the only consideration as opposed to morality and ethics. Again, I recommend to you…Machiavelli’s Prince.

Ok, and I’m saying that I reach the same end (not harming the person), but by a different path (cost/benefit vs. ethics). We part company in the instance where there would be no punishment, in which case I would not harm the person, and he would (or might).

  1. I didn’t say that we should have cancer. I say that we will have cancer. Probably forever. Certain kinds will be treatable, but I hypothesize it will always be around. As of now, I’m correct.

And if you won’t read my books, I won’t read yours either.

I used to be heavily liberal, I grew up in a Jewish family, most Jews are liberal.

That doesn’t seem to be working. Why isn’t it working?

Lol, and how are you going to get others to do that?

The thing we came up with where we had rape at first but then we inserted murder and theft and they both worked too. I’ll find it.

This is vague. What is the precise meaning of saying “reality enforces this law?” Logic is laws of abstract thought - how can reality enforce them? What is the “reality test” to see if p and not p cannot coexist?

if you are asking about right now, what empowers me to be left alone. I couldnt point to anything, since i am not empowered to be left alone. i have no government granted right to be left alone, i am not left alone every day. do you have a point here?

Your personal property [ your domicile ]

It’s easier, yes, but it would be very difficult to live in a society where murders, rapes, theft, etc. were commonplace, even if only in instances where the perpatrator could not be caught.

A peacable society based on non-aggression would have no problems like this, though. Wanton violence makes it hard for society to function.

Of course, I forget thaty you’re thinking entirely of yourself, and have demonstrated a complete lack of empathy. Again, I believe it’s called sociopathy.

In any case, I’m off to work in a few. This discussion does not seem to be going anywhere [:^)]

Alright, let’s insert taxation where rape used to be…some people think taxes are alright. It doesn’t fit.

Je ne comprends pas… asking me a question?

Reality enforces the laws of thermodynamics. No one can trangress them. So we can actually observe their effects. I guess their cause is that the universe is set up the way it is. I don’t know what the cause of that is. Purely chance, I imagine.

No your personal property is where you have the ability and right to recede from the public sphere. Think of it like a bat cave Frenchie

First of all, i have tons of empathy, no sympathy though. No pity, guilt, remorse or regret (well, sometimes i feel regret)

You still don’t understand. Humans beings don’t rape, kill, steal from one another all the time because it’s not always the most effective way to get what they want. Why is that? Well, for one, because there are other ways that are less messy (usually), and two, because we have laws that punish those actions severely.

You cannot pull the aggression out of man with a philosophy, my friend.

I’m not a sociopath, I’m just a human being who knows that your life is your own responsibility, not mine.

We do not need to agree to disagree, you are just wrong Mr Ellsworth Toohey…

According to quantum physics you can hang an elephant off a cliff by its tail tied to a dandelion, when you bring the experiment into reality, you find that it is false…

Besides that segue into irrelevance, you cannot be free and not free at the same time, the house slave is no less a slave than the field slave, and both are fundamentally wrong…

So what do you need Graham? You need power to enforce your rights. Yes?
