Ask them if they think theft should be legal, then explain to them that taxation is theft.
Most people believe the religion they were raised in is true. And most people have been raised being taught that taxation with representation is OK, and that we have representation. Maybe you should try and challenge these misconceptions.
This is the most intelligent thing ANYONE has said to me on this forum yet.
Yes, it’s possible that anarchy would be an improvement. I think not. So I want them to prove it to me. Which they can’t or won’t do.
All I hear is “IT’S MORAL!!.” Whatever morality is, it clearly hasn’t the power to make their system work. Also, I think it’s crazy to think that someone is a radical statist just because they think a public military is more effective than a private one.
Until I see some real proof of their claims, I am going to continue thinking that the system I believe in, which I can actually point to, is the most effective. Whether or not it’s the height of political philosophical effectiveness, I do not know. It’s just the best thing I’ve seen yet. Like QWERTY. I’ve heard that people have come up with “better” setups, but no one really wants to switch. So people stick with QWERTY. Path dependency requires a serious jolt to negate. So far, I’ve yet to see these anarchists produce such a jolt.
That being said, I respect everything you said, and I think it was more intelligible and well articulated than any fanatical “HERESY!!!” accusation I’ve seen yet from these other guys.
The US used to be one. It’s not anymore. I’m really a Jeffersonian Republican. I want to see us move back to something…that closely resembles the Constitution.
I thought about it again and changed my answer again. Unfortunately, you already responded.

So Jacob, let’s talk about you again. Do you think taxation should be legal? Let’s define taxation first. Taxation is where someone else, that you may or may not have voted for, takes your money, without your consent and spends it on something you may or may not want it spent on.
Not everyone think taxation is good, the do it because they like not having their house and other property seized, I could guarantee you that if the majority were to come to be the final arbiter of whether there was or was not taxation, you would find there would be no taxation, of course providing that only those that pay tax get to choose…
This is why we are not supposed to be a democracy…
So you are telling me that if I see you walking down a street and no one is around, I should shoot you, because you would be just as likely to kill, rape and steal from me…
This is precisely the facts that I like to hear about my debate opponents, especially in the field of morality, you claim to be a peaceful guy on the other discussion, but here it is the truth…
So you are a murdering, raping thief at heart, this is what you are, and the only thing that chains you is the potential to get arrested by monopoly police and found guilty in monopoly courts…
You are a debased creature, not really sentient, you are more like a dog, and to rationalize your way, you claim that everyone must be like you, and the necessity of an overseer is there becasue of this fact…
You are a socialist Jakob, to the tune of National Socialism, you want an all powerful state to control the masses of deranged frothing animals that you envision all men to be, because that is what you see in the mirror, and you want all the nationalist fervor to get all transgressors on this socialist paradise you envision, with your “Love it or Leave it” mentality…
Pay for my Property in Gold, I will only accept Bullion, and I will leave…
Well there are several communities that were once anarchistic in nature. Iceland, Rhode Island, Ireland. And what we have today is exactly what the Constitution resembles. It was created by Federalists to encourage the centralization of power and the growth of federal government through vague interpretations of the amendments. You either have to concede that or the fact that the Constitution has been powerless to prevent where we are today in which case the Constitution is found to be a useless document.
If all we had was a military, I’d be perfectly happy getting my bill in the mail. I wouldn’t consider it coercion at all that they might punish me for not paying it, because I want a strong military.
I only have that objection with nanny state programs. I think we should have a flat tax. I think it could probably be around 15%. And that would be it. I could definitely live with that.
Also, the Fed either needs to be done away with or severely regulated.
so you dont want to talk about anarchy/minarchy. i thought you wanted to get back on thread. but guess not.
why dont i tell you about how we can approach people that believe economic fallacies, and then you can ask me about what sports i like, and then you can ask me what music i listen to and we can go on and on and you can be a moron.
Of course the Constitution is useless if no one is willing to follow it. It’s just a piece of paper with some rules on it. But those rules, if followed, work. They did for a long time.
