You guys are right

People like you are why I own guns. Have your moral nihilism, just don’t think you can practice it without facing retaliation from those who you would harm in order to gain satisfaction.

There’s not much more to say.

See you say things like this…then you say you would call the cops if someone ever stole from you. Can you maintain consistency? Or is this some kind of game where you change your mind at every response? Go mingle with Max Stirner and his bizarro rational of ‘might is right’ yet someone the state, a monopoly of might in a given area, is somehow unjust.

  1. I’m for freedom but I understand the part that power plays in freedom. You seem to not want to see this.

  2. Hitler didn’t say people couldn’t be Jewish. He said that if you were, you were inferior and would thus be…detained and stripped of possessions and eventually killed. And you’re right, he carried out those rules. Morality didn’t stop him. What would’ve stopped him?? We could have! But we chose not to! We chose not to act. We have the power to stop Hitler early, we chose not to. And yes, I would like a medal.

This forum is private property. Freedom of speech doesn’t exist here.

writing on this message board is not your freedom by right. it is a gift given to you by the owners of the forum. you are a guest.

when you are turned away from the door your freedom is not impaired. you have all the liberty to act you ever did. you might lack power, but not freedom.

Alright fine, plaintiff, why are these two statements contradictory? I’m the defendant again. Prove to me that I’m being inconsistent.

LOLLOLLOL, you guys are so funny. You’re right. It doesn’t. Freedom of speech isn’t a right that can’t be taken away. The same applies to your natural laws and your morals. Power is what MagicGraham holds and power is what gives him the ability to act. Right and wrong are irrelevant.

So you can see how power supercedes freedom right?

This is exactly what “moral nihilists” understand. They understand consequence. As do you apparently.

1)so you have changed your position? please admit this if it be true… for earlier you wrote that freedom is irrelevant. but now you like it. huh?

  1. There is no motive or legitimacy to stopping people doing things when the things those people are doing is legitimate. if jews were a kind of rock. and hitler was inciting germans to break the bigger jew rocks into smaller jew rocks. we would have no grounds to intervene. we would have no moral motive to stop him. I hope this is making it somewhat clearer to you that recognising what is moral is central when one hopes to avoid moral nightmares.

but his has strayed from what 2 was about. which was your absurd statement that if the government don’t say its a crime it isn’t a crime. but since I dealt with that and you were the big Lose, we can focus on 1 if you need to, as 2 seems to be over. unless you have more to say on your medal-winning topic…

I want to show you something…

This is totalitarianism, there is no limit to a government that instills fear in people, it is better that you not claim to admit others are right when you believe that a nanny state needs to sit over everyone and ensure good behavior… Especially through use of fear (even if equally giving fear to all things)…

Here, why not have a government that instead of threatening everyone to follow the rules, we just have it put everyone in a slave camp? It will accomplish the same goal, possibly better, then no one has to make the choice of committing crimes, it will be near impossible with all the guards. Or we could also destroy all weapons not in guards hands, no toothbrushes, utensils, writing implements, because we all know that armed people are harder to instill fear into…

You are what you are Jakob, and I won’t kill you, until you come looking to impose your will on me, then for reasons of directly violating my rights, we will see why a cop on the phone is not the best answer to the question of defense…

Law Predates Government, social order predates government, enforcement of such law predates government, prove that government is necessary…

Look at reality and know your system does not work, it ends here where we are now, and continues further, this is the outcome of 232 years after Limited Government…

You presume to tell me how I feel? Nonsense. By way of counterexample, I avoid initiating aggression even when there would be no real consequences, the the act would be easy to commit. It’s morality.

I think you have Dissocial personality disorder. Are you a sociopath?

I respect your humility. It takes maturity to admit error.

I think you have to realize that libertarianism is a political philosophy and social theory, and to understand how it works you need to study these fields. Bottom line: you have to do some reading.

I agree. You’ve racked up 400 posts in three weeks. Slow down! Take some time off to read and let your brain figure things out. Sleep on it. I recommend starting with these articles. Then once you have a more sophisticated understanding, post any questions you still have.

Good luck.

Here you rationalize that the government has the implied right to act in their own interests at the expense of the citizenry merely because they are powerful.

Here is a statement where someone has stolen from you and you do not have the power to retain it [ therefore you call the police ] therefore you are the weak one who has no right to reclaim his property because you lost it to your weakness. Yet you call the police which means that even though you were too weak to retain your property you still claimed a right to it.

Contradiction: Government has the implied right to exploit the citizenry merely because it has power, yet you retain rights over your property in a situation where you are powerless.

peoples freedoms are more important than their powers.

i cant get upset about people not being able to jump to the moon or bench press buildings.

Who stated that freedom of speech is a natural right?

And the government has the power to grow, so why do you favor limited government instead of big government? Thanks for stopping by.

Maybe Jakob would be happier at RevLeft?

You’re a very black and white kinda guy, Felker. I find that scary. Because you can’t see degrees in things or shades of gray.

Law does predate government but it does not predate enforcement, government could be argued to be as old as sedentary human civilization though (think tribal chiefdoms). And probably even with nomads. They had leaders who made the rules and enforced them.

I don’t have to prove that government is necessary. It exists, that’s proof enough to me. You have to prove to me that government isn’t necessary. It would be nice to have examples of regions that have no government…but you have none.

That means your claims are unfalsifiable. Also, I’m not trying to steal anything from you, there’s no need for violence. Unless you want violence, in which case I’ll defend myself.

Totalitarianism and limited government are two very different things. The fact that you can’t see that is disturbing because it means that you literally see everything as black and white. Government or no. And that’s…not practical.

Again, fear is a means of control. If you can’t instill fear in your anarchist region somehow, it will fail because men will become uncontrollable.

Without the power to post on this forum, I don’t have the freedom to.

  1. The Constitution, which you guys don’t care about. But I understand that the Constitution is a piece of paper, it requires people to uphold it, if necessary, by force. I can see you’re not the guys who intend to do that.

  2. The government ONLY has the power to grow if people don’t stick by the principles of limited government. Luckily for you, there are people like me who absolutely believe in and will fight for limited government. But you don’t want that, you want no government. You should fight for it.
