You know the government sucks at providing law and order ...

… when it has to coerce people to help in a jury.

… when it spends lots of time and energy on a case where $15 was stolen.

… when it punishes people for victimless crime.

… when the laws require a ton of encyclopedias.

… when you cannot switch to another organization that provides law and order.

… when it is the only one doing it!

… when the government has to use propaganda to prevent people from thinking there is a different way.

In all fairness, given the views people have around here of how defense would work in a stateless society, I doubt it would be much better, the good news is that they’re wrong.

The State actually perpetuates crime to justify its existence. Violent and depraved criminals are alive only because the State has made it illegal to kill them.

The Somali pirate that the State is about to spend several million dollars prosecuting as a prelude to providing him food, shelter, medical care and a law library for the next 20 years is another example of how government is incapable of providing for an economic social order.
