Your thoughts on objective media (especially traditional media)

Several questions, and I would like your thoughts:

  1. Are there any objective media?
  2. If not, is it possible to have objective media?
  3. If there are no objective media, but it is possible to have objective media, should there be objective media? In other words, is objectivity important in media?
  4. If objective media possible and desirable, would it be the case that having both objective and subjective media is desirable? Would they compliment each other nicely?

I have worked 18 hours each day for the last 4 days and have finally gotten time to relax. Usually when I am in a state like this, I begin considering concepts that I cannot totally suss out. I have posted here before when exhausted.

  1. Everyone has their own point of view. Some points of view are more accurate than others.

  2. In a really free market, the media would converge towards the best possible coverage.

3 & 4. The mainstream media have a State-backed monopoly/oligopoly. They have no incentive to rock the boat and start reporting the news honestly.

The good news is that, on the Internet, there’s lots of alternate viewpoints. The truth is out there, if you know where to look.

IMHO, my blog is a better resource than anything you’ll find in the mainstream media. Look at my “Google Reader Shared Items” and other blogs I reference, to see other interesting sources of information.
