Both my grandmother and grandfather passed away within the past two months. While sorting through everything in their house, my mom came across a 1918 $10,000 Federal Reserve note, a $10 US Note, and a $10,000 US Note.

What are some of your suggestions in handling these? Should I tell them to contact collectors and get them appraised?
Very cool, if they’re real. I wonder what a legit 10k gold certificate would fetch at auction these days?
According to wikipedia, collectors will pay considerably more than face value for the large denomination notes, but only 336 known $10,000 bills are still in circulation. I’d be curious to know whether they’re legit, particularly the serial number 000000 on the series 1918 note looks suspect. Here’s some more info in an article via NYT.
Assuming the 1918 is real, it may be worth more than 10K. There ae less than 1000 10K bills in circulation today, so it may be a collectors item, get it appraised by at least 2 different sources. The seal on the right side of the bill should be blue, if not, I think you have a fake.
I have no knowledge of a 10k Jackson bill.

FWIW, the $10K was issued with Jackson on it, according to a number of sources I googled earlier. No idea whether this particular note is legit, obviously.
Also, hard to discern from the scans, but these notes appear to be in very good condition.
Assuming the scan is an accurate representation of the bills, it would be an astonishing find to find the bills in that good of a condition.
Also I think the NYC article you had linked said there wee no known Jackson bills left, so if that is a real bill it would be an almost historic find.
Due to the rarity of the bills, the seemingly amazing condition, and the sucpicious 0000 # on one of them; my guess is they are not real and probably fake bills you would buy fom doing a tour of the US Treasury. Still, worth checking out if you have ANY doubts if they are real or not, I just wouldn’t get my hopes up.
