^This. If you read the article, there’s really nothing new being reported. Just another chance to repeat/throw the smear in the hope that the automatons start thinking there must be fire if there’s this much smoke around this. Old school Goebels.
This is the one of the few pieces I’ve seen so far that says anything about the newsletters I haven’t heard before.
This is an interesting statement.
“It was his newsletter.” Technically, no. He had only a minority share in the company that printed them at the time, though he was president of the company.
“It was under his name.” Yes, that’s true.
“So he always got to see the final product.” She says this as if it’s a conclusion that follows from what she said earlier, but it isn’t. And does she mean he would only read once it had come out like a normal subscriber, or that he could review it before it was put out if he wanted to, or that he always did? I doubt it was the latter two, because a) none of the relevant newsletters list him as an editor, and b) he was a full-time medical doctor, in-demand public speaker, and a father of five children at the time.
In fact, two tidbits occur to me now that are probably worth contrasting with this testimony. First, according to FreeMarketNews.com, “There were several issues that went out with comments that [Ron Paul] would not ordinarily make. He was angry when he saw them.”
Second, according to Eric Dondero, “maybe 40% [of the content] came from [Paul] in the way of scribbles […] on a yellow pad, that was then faxed to his office staff in South Houston for editing and publication.” Those “scribbles” probably included the following statement in the May 1995 Survival Report: “Now that my five children are grown and educated, I’ve listened to the many supporters who’ve urged me to return to office.” In other words, here is basically Paul saying he was quite occupied with raising his kids during the period when the racist newsletters came out (1990-1994).
I looked over all the newsletters that are available online, and I really could only find maybe 7 (out of hundreds) that could be considered “racist” or “homophobic” across that four year period. Most of them don’t say anything that wasn’t already being said in the popular and conservative media at the time of the LA riots.
So have one confused statement from a “former secretary” (notice they don’t say during what time period she was working for Paul) and self-styled “supporter,” contrasted with all the other evidence that shows plenty of room for simple human error.
This “person” is almost certainly a shill and a liar. If he knew what he was talking about he would know that the period he’s talking about was when Paul had basically given up control of the newsletters. That “strategy” might have been undertaken by others, who mistakenly allowed a few stupid columns to surface, but not by Paul.
I remember Reason.com reporting the same story. There’s reason not to doubt it, since Crane actually implicates himself in the telling. (Although Cato and the Kochtopus have been after the Paul-Rothbard-Rockwell segment of the movement for a long time.) The problem is it’s extremely vague. Okay, so Paul knew where his subscribers were coming from. But he also knew the start-up day, the number of subscribers, and other technical details. I mean, this doesn’t establish much, and certainly doesn’t prove authorship.
Guess I’m gonna have to update my FAQ.
If you guys think this is bad, wait til the media gets ahold of the video of Ron Paul giving a speech with the confederate flag behind him. Someone posted it here. Matters little what he said in the talk, cause the image will be plastered on every news channel, and that’ll be the end of his run.
IMO they already know about it but are prepping everyone with all this newsletter talk. Then, when it dies down and he hasn’t gone away, they’ll pull out the video. “See! We told you so! Racist!”
That’ll be their message.

I did send it to the campaign but I didn’t get a response. I’ll try Lew Rockwell. I do know that Tom Woods did put it up on his blog.
