Watch videos entitled: “What is the Free Market” and “America’s Political False Dichotomy” by Shanedk on youtube to see (complete with sources too!) why that’s bullshit.
The axioms of Free Market (Austrian) Economics come from oservation/Psychology: They are scientific. The logic follows. And besides, as for evidence, there’s a sh*tload of evidence of free market economics working (see the videos I suggested), so it’s not like we’re just pulling all of it out of our asses.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we can convince the socialists/Keynsenians that the FED is the reason for the current crisis, that they’d say it’s the fault of the free market because the FED is a “private bank”.
You know what the kicker is? That a central bank was advocated by Marx in the Communist Manifesto. I mean, can you say “Epic Fail”?
The assumption was that the man did so without them directly pressuring him. I was trying to make a pun (“the man” often being a synonym for “the state”)
But your point is still valid: The source things (abortions, welfare, haircuts, etc) in an economy are the people who want and demand them.
Unfortunately with the increase of Democracy came the increase in socialism, so to say it is not the people enabling the state is fundamentally flawed…
He/she is if they’re voting for the use of state mandated “charity”, in the same way Rockefeller was a thief and/or aggressor for pushing for what is now known as the Federal Reserve.
Democracy = mob rule: because the government is dictated by the whims of the majority, as opposed to the rule of law like a republic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-4kCD4nbrw (“The political Spectrum explained! (1/3)” by ShanklinMike) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxXhqxtmHjo (“Rome’s Fall Capitalism Socialism Communism Fascism??? (2/3) Difference?” by ShanklinMike)
Possibly the lamest argument for the FED being private yet: “The Federal Reserve Bank is a private company and not part of the US government. You can prove this by looking in the phone book at the government agency section for the federal reserve office. If you don’t find it there look in the white business pages. When you control printing of money it doesn’t matter who controls government. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is completely, totally and unquestionably unconstitutional.” source: http://perspectives.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=56431&forum_id=5
A reply I got from someone after linking to this thread and stating that the Fed is public:
“Your little rant is outright bullshit. The Fed is NOT a part of the government, it is simply empowered by the government. In many ways, it is more powerful than the government. Nevertheless, it is not a part of the government. Congress isn’t even allowed to audit them, not to mention the already mentioned fact that it is owned by member banks through stock holdings. Get a clue before you post this nonsense.” Woos for the lose.
My reply: "It’s in the Federal Reserve Act that Congress can order the Fed to do whatever they want, whenever they want. They just choose not to exercise that power. But it can be done, like with the Audit the Fed Act currently going through Congress. How is a government granted monopoly ‘private’? What would happen if I print my own personal money?
The very fact that people can call a government central bank, created by Congress, with 7 board members appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, operating under the decree of government creating legal tender, and being exempt from taxes, and free from any competition de jure private is just completely laughable in itself."
