I started a thread on alt.politics.economics and alt.politics.libertarian called "All in favor of deregulating the radio spectrum, say “Aye!” I argue that the radio spectrum should be a completely deregulated free-for-all, free from government interference, on First Amendment grounds. I also invoke the Tenth Amendment, which strictly limits the federal government to the functions expressly listed in the Constitution.
A certain “Nickname unavailable” defends the FCC using the “Supremacy Clause” of the U.S. Constitution. “Bert Hyman” says that without FCC regulations, the broadcasters would be “jammed” by “interference” from “squatters”. Apparently, Bert Hyman does not recognize that the biggest source of “interference” is the FCC, which threw entrepreneur Edwin Armstrong off of the radio waves to protect the big corporations.
