This woman is being destroyed to cover the asses of a lot of ‘important’ people who would get in trouble if she wasn’t rotting in prison like Edmond Dantes. The most infuriating thing about her plight is that she might as well be locked in a Chinese prison for all that anybody in the US can do about it. Her case is so gut-wrenching that it is difficult for me to contemplate it for more than a few minutes at a time. Even though she’s a complete stranger, I’m sometimes reduced to tears when I think about her.

But setting aside the emotional component of Ms. Siddiqui’s case, it is crucial to understand the true perversion of justice that has occurred here. It’s a variation on the same perversion which is present in Guantanamo Bay, the extraordinary rendition programs and the rest of the PATRIOT Act-style bullshit. Ms. Siddiqui is in prison right now because the government claims she tried to shoot one of her guards - a perverse reversal of the facts. But this is a very peculiar sort of crime isn’t it? Shooting at guards who have and gave no legal justification for holding her prisoner for five years is supposed to be a crime? That is not “guarding” or “imprisonment” even, it’s simply kidnapping. Her defense lawyers and many of the groups and individuals supporting her cause have staked their claim on refuting the government’s claim that she tried to shoot one of the guards. But all of this skips over the glaring, screaming, triple-red-alert fact that she was caged in a secret prison without justification for five years in Bagram Air Base - a prison that the government has never even admitted to exist. Surely this constitutes a crime, in itself.

I maintain that even if Ms. Siddiqui did shoot, it would have been only an act of self-defense. Fighting off one’s kidnappers is hardly unjustifiable. In fact, it constitutes a textbook example of justifiable violence. That’s ridiculous? Not as ridiculous as imprisoning her for five years without charges.

Which brings me to what her crime really was. Her crime was being named by a tortured man. That’s it. They waterboarded KSM 183 times and one of those times he mentioned Siddiqui, who happened to be married to someone KSM knew (which automatically makes a person a member of al-Qaeda). And this is why Siddiqui was being held in secret. She was an embarrassment, a mistake they couldn’t figure out how to fix. She’s dangerous because she’s Westernized and highly educated. If released, she’d cause hella trouble. They could have just killed her but apparently they didn’t have the stomach for it at the time. Today, I’m sure they’re kicking themselve for not having just offed her. But then enough details about her existence emerged that some activists were able to force the government to admit her existence and whereabouts. Suddenly, just after her existence became known, she tried to shoot one of her captors, oops, I mean guards.

There really are no words for what is being done to this woman. I wish all the people responsible for her ongoing torture could just be obliterated from existence.

Its absolutely disgusting that this case never ever gets any air-time and is never shown any scrutiny. She was found guilty when there was absolutely no evidence that she fired any rifle- the only evidence of any shooting is when some low-life warrant officer shot HER with a 9mm. There’s a reason why people from other countries call the US government Satan itself. They spew this voice of justice but their actions are just the shedding of blood.

The jury, prosecutors, and the judge are all worthless people. These types are the scum of the earth itself.

@auctionguy: I despise the fact that the US govenment calls itself “American.” It’s not American. It has nothing to do with America or Americans except that we are the primary victims of its insatiable blood-sucking. The US government is far and away responsible for more evil in the world today than any other single organization.

Also the unfortunate part is that if ever a day were to come where other countries decide that they wish to pay the US back in blood- the policymakers and killers will all be safe and americans that had nothing to do with anything will be harmed. Its so hard for me to believe that individuals that work in governments are able to give themselves so much energy and devotion to spreading pain and death around the world.

I mean listen to this worthless judge->

"He gave as an example a reference to the five-year period before her 2008 arrest of Ms. Siddiqui’s disappearance and claims of torture, where the Judge said: “I am aware of no evidence in the record to substantiate these allegations or to establish them as fact. There is no credible evidence in the record that the United States officials and/or agencies detained Dr. Siddiqui”.

She was shot in the torso- and there was no ballistic evidence of her shooting anyone at all. That’s the only reality that can be proved when it comes to this case. But there’s no evidence to substantiate her allegations? Where’s the evidence to substantiate ANY of the prosecution’s allegations?! Just what the hell were the jury deliberating about? What a joke.
