Advanced Austrian Economics?

I feel ready to discuss Advanced Austrian Economics. Can someone point me to hard topics to digest in this field (explanations are welcome)?

have you visited https://forum.freecapitalists.org/members/Don-Lloyd/default.aspx don lloyds blog? he posts interesting things from time to time

What makes you think that? Have you gone through the basic intros yet, or Rothbard’s MES?

If you have fully digested murray and mises you are a better man than me sir.

Ditto, and I don’t even consider MES advanced Austrian econ; more so intermediate. I think you need to have a good grasp of it or Mises’s HA (as well as some of his other works) before moving on to the advanced stuff. A knowledge of Reisman’s Capitalism for an alternative perspective wouldn’t hurt either.

Familiarity with Kirzner and Hayek helps as well.

Hayek is already pretty advanced territory. Even HA is, but it’s fundamental to Austrian econ, and a prerequisite to moving on to any of its more advanced facets.

What texts are people considering “advanced”?

This sort of thing?

That just seems completely wrong headed. Economics is about purposeful action whilst evolution is unconcious and purposeless. Also he seems to pay special attention to Hayek according to the blurb probably his sociology, disemination of knowledge and such like. Hoppe demolishes Hayek’s view on this in a F.A. Hayek on Government and Social Evolution: A Critique

I was thinking of The Pure Theory of Capital and Prices and Production, as well as his The Counter-revolution of Science, though the latter is more focused on explicitly methodological questions.

just because action is purposeful doesn’t mean that motivations for action are. man acts to relieve the most pressing discomforts on his existence but his analysis of how to relieve them are incorrect in consistent ways. Man often acts as if he is still living on the Savannah.

One of the greatest successes of the free-market is that it instills a counteractive agent to some of our inbuilt biases. We naturally have high time preference because in the ancestral environment you never knew when you were going to be pounced on by a leopard. But the free market rewards having lower time preference, countering our natural bias and leading us towards an equilibrium more in tune with the realities of the present.

Pure Theory of Cap is up there. We should have a new printing of it out next week. happy about that!
