Hi. I have a pretty good understanding of ABCT, the artificial manipulation of interest rates, marginal utility, and how business regulations cause unintended consequences. Where should I go now? Are there more advanced Austrian ideas out there that I can learn about?
What are some of the books about Austrian economics that you have read?
The only book I’ve read from start to finish is “The Market for Liberty” by Linda & Morris Tannehill (1970). I’ll admit I haven’t gotten a chance to go in depth in to any specific book, but I’ve looked at Human Action, Meltdown, and The Politics of Obedience.
I read LRC every day and I listen to/watch most of the Mises Circle speeches. I enjoy the LRC articles that introduce a new idea that I had not considered before, such as this one: http://www.lewrockwell.com/lilley/floy14.1.html (The Economics of Recycling by Floy Lilley).
I recommend you read Man, Economy and State by Murray Rothbard. Don’t be daunted by its size, or think you need to read smaller texts first to understand it. Use the study guide. If you can master that book, you have mastered most of Austrian theory. Personally, I wish I had read it sooner and not kept putting it off.
I second trulib. I recently started reading MESPM over a month ago, along with the study guide. I’ve still got a little ways to go, but I’m hoping to pick up the pace a bit and finish it within the next couple weeks. I wish I had started reading it a long time ago! I’ve gained a much more solid understanding of economics from this book than I have from the other 4 or 5 smaller “Austrian” books I’ve read.

It may not be particularly advanced, but I usually recommend Defending the Undefendable by Walter Block for anyone who hasn’t read too much about AE.
