I cringe up when my wife buys certain items in the store because I want to goto amazon.com and look up the best customer rated one instead and buy that one. I seriously think I have a problem. Any of you have this problem?
You feel the need to go look up the type of item you’re wanting to buy in the store so you can somehow find the very best customer rated one, which in your mind, for about the same money or maybe even cheaper, will be so far superior to the item you’re looking at in a brick and mortar store.
I’m having trouble coming up with an example of an item that really fits into that category. I mean, I suppose you wanna try to find the best digital camera or the best dishwasher…but what sort of things get purchased on a regular basis that the “best one” is really that important?
yes definetely electronics. but I’m talking about something as ridiculous as sun hats. you would think trying them on in the store would make the most sense. But I couldn’t bring myself to buy one that way. I have to look for the highest rated sun hats on amazon.com. I’m actually glad i did…I found some really cool australian roo hats.
I can symphatize. I have amazon prime so shipping is a non issue for most things. I’ve gotten to the point I don’t bother buying cereal at stores anymore.
I have the same issue on newegg.com. Always go for the top ratings, and read the reviews. Frankly comparing reviews are even more important. Who doesn’t want something with the best value?
thats the problem. we’ve gotten to the point where we have the info to look up every item if we want. but finding the absolute best value item for everything would take someone forever. we don’t need to look up reviews for every freakin item we buy.

I just use Amazon as my default store choice. I have a free prime account, so I get free 2 day shipping on many items. Also, I have a rewards card which offers 3% back on Amazon purchases. All of that plus no sales tax = win.
In general, I buy nothing on a whim. I have never made an “impulse buy” in my life.
You should check out camelcamelcamel.com. It has a price history of everything on Amazon and you can follow certain items to be informed of a price drop.
