I agree it is a great cartoon and, in a free society, if people want to live a primitive lifestyle they should be free to do so. I would choose to live with modern medicine, the Internet and indoor plumbing but I in no way want to infringe upon the rights of others. That said, there is one particularly inconsistent sentence. “-Rejet du pouvoir patriarcal vu comme conséquence de la domestication.”
- Or, translated “Rejection of patriarchal power seen as a consequence of the domestication.” I find this absurd because “patriarchal power” is itself primitive – it is through technology that jobs previously only open to men are now open to women.

I’m all for not treating women as chattel but also realize that there are certain things that men are better at than women and the other way around.
Equality is an utilitarian illusion.
Little things like menopause that developed so the grandmother wouldn’t be in sexual competition with the mother and could share in the childrearing, which is also beneficial to the youngsters, have evolved over time to differentiate the separate roles the genders had within the societies. Males on the other hand can procreate up until the day they die so aren’t quite as useful to keep around in their old age and their roles within the family structure reflect this.
Not that that has anything to do with what you wrote but once the fingers start moving across the keyboard…
Methinks you misunderstood me. The irony of their statement is this: That website blames patriarchy on “modern society”. When, in fact, it is modern society that enables even the debate about the role of women in society at all. Technology allows women who want to enter the workforce far more options. Before inventions like the bulldozer, the forklift etc. people would have laughed at the idea that women could perform useful tasks in the field of construction. Today, this technology allows women to perform these tasks. This allows a greater debate about the role of women in society.
