Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I watched the Bond flick “The Spy Who Loved Me” there is a scene where Stromberg talks about killing millions to remake the world, its the communist agent who objects to killing millions of innocents.
Jedi knights are very collectivist. They protect the republic even through corruption. So pretty much the red army. Although very rarely they are true individualists that fight for freedom. The sith on the other hand are Egoists. They believe that might makes right. The top sith is the strongest and has overpowered everybody so he has the right to everything and everyone.

There have still been dark Jedi that never joined the Sith order. The Sith, yes, did take over a race and assimilate with it. Then they created a religion akin to the Ceaser Cult of Rome. This theocracy was partially broken up with the rule of 2 (Darth Bane), but it is a religion nonetheless. A Jedi can fall to the dark side, but he doesn’t become a Sith until he joins the Sith order.
Once again tho, the Sith (intentional conquerers), from any kind of libertarian sense are WAY MORE untrustworthy than the Jedi (misguided idealists).
I’d agree that the Sith are far more away from the libertarian point of view then the Jedi. The two are more like the ideas of Imperium and Regnum.
