Earlier this morning I had an opinion column from The Wall Street Journel recommended to me via email. Though I knew not what it was about originally, it was an opinion article about how Rand’s Atlas Shrugged’s vision of economic destruction via government being vindicated once again by the recent government economic “corrections”. Here it is. Any comments?
Yes, but not relevant to the article. That the author should’ve heeded Rand’s wisdom and directed his attention towards Mises, as opposed to Laffer.
Maybe Greenspan should read this, to discover where “his” ideology went wrong… as opposed to his own personal failings and utter cowardice.
Articles via WSJ have been getting noticably more varied since the switchover in ownership… I wouldn’t dare say it’s gotten better, but somehow I doubt Ayn Rand would’ve been covered in such a relativley non-biased light had such changeover not occurred.

Asking when will Atlas shrug is very convenient for conservatives today. Atlas has been shrugging for a decade. US companies are moving overseas and have been for quite a while. US companies are outsourcing jobs overseas, and have been for quite a while. That is Atlas shrugging, and the accomplice press has been ignoring it for a long time. It will definitely get worse under Obama, but this isn’t some partisan issue. The big government of both parties has been causing Atlas to shrug for a while, and the brain-dead accomplice press hasn’t even noticed. Conservatives are suddenly pointing it out, but where were they the last decade when Bush’s big government was sending jobs overseas?
I came here for a desperate search of where to shrug… hoping maybe to find some community somewhere. I found nothing - lists of liberty indexes that, to my dismay, listed the USA as in the top 10.
I have been describing AS as identical to history for about a year now. After listening to the lectures on this site describing the attempts at business self-cartelization during/before the great depression, it sounded exactly like the events of AS. I’m sure Rand pulled the names and likenesses right out of the news papers. Amalgamated Switching company? All the organizations used names like that. But then I found that it wasn’t just that time period; these things are continuous.
