AZ Stops Paying for Transplants

Everyone is throwing a fit over this at my school. I didn’t even know Medicaid covered such expensive procedures. Anyone’s thoughts??

They had to cut the expenses from somewhere, and a lot of the surgeries in question I have to question if the people requiring them are in the US legally. I live in Chandler BTW, and I have seen some of the report’s on the two operation’s in question. I’m not a cold hearted person by any mean’s, but when a person from Mexico comes here to get surgery to prevent his death from Hep C, I have to question why there’s an outrage.

The people in school should be happy that the state is staying out of the red, and that our Job market isn’t as bad as some of our neighbor’s.

my thoughts would be, it doesn’t matter what you economic level is, as Americans we should all get

the same medical care.

Being American used to mean you worked for your own wealth and didn’t force anyone to give their wealth to you. Being American doesn’t mean I owe you anything at all. What do you mean “we should all get the same medical care”? Pretend 20 people need transplants and they have 10 hearts to give. Should the government chop each of the 10 hearts in half so everyone gets “the same medical care”, or should hospitals give it to the top 10 people who can afford it and will allow the hospital to invest in better technology that one day may be able to clone hearts or make transplants less expensive?

I find it odd that someone would even wonder if the person was a Mexican or not. That didn’t even enter my mind when I first read about this atrocity that is happening in AZ. If you read the stories about those that will be dead in a matter of months because the state wants to save some money, you will find that they are as white as you and as American as you. I know that illegals are a huge problem in AZ but that has nothing to do with this.

This is just utterly appalling and unchristian. People should stop and think, what if this was my loved one.

Not Mexican, illegal. As in they haven’t paid taxes. If we didn’t have taxation, this wouldn’t be a problem.

I don’t give a shit if they are white and American. You’re the one being racist here. I don’t give anyone permission to steal my money, but you’re saying it should be okay if they’re white and American? Are you kidding me? And it’s not the State who wants to save money. Taxpayers don’t want to be forcibly taxed and then not receive anything from it.

It has everything to do with it. No one would care about illegal immigrants if we didn’t have the welfare state because everyone would be working for their own services instead of stealing from everyone else like now.

If it was my loved one, I would: (1) pay for it myself, (2) collect other family members to help pay for it, or (3) ask a charity for help. When people don’t get money stolen, they are so much more likely to give things for free. Now people like you have it in their heads that because we live within the same made-up boundaries that I owe you something. Remember that, when government forcibly-taken (it seems like you can’t grasp this statement) taxes pay for someone’s transplant, that means another person will never get the transplant.

Un-Christian is you thinking that you own another person’s wealth. You are a thief, and you try to make up for it with fake emotional clauses. You’re a joke.

Welcome to the Mises.org forums Linnie, lol. Brians getting a little hot and bothered, but think about the underlying reasoning behind what he’s saying.

Also, you’ll find that arguing that positions are “unchristian” (or “Un-American”, for that matter) won’t get you too far around here.

Hooray!! Maybe transplants will become more affordable as a result!

I can’t help it when someone criticizes an action as racist and “Un-Christian” when they themselves seem to be promoting those same ideals.

Wait, i thought organ donating was supposed to be altruistic?

‘Not Mexican, illegal. As in they haven’t paid taxes.’

Doesn’t it seem a little hypocritical to be complaining about someone not paying their taxes when we hope that we didn’t have to pay taxes? It seems like you are saying that we all have to suffer under taxation until we are all broken from it but how can we break from it unless there are step toward it?

I’m not complaining about them simply not paying their taxes. I’d be fine with that if they weren’t taking services from the government at the same time, but many illegal immigrants do take those services, whether they mean to or not.

I didn’t even want to discuss illegal immigrants anyway until that person brought the subject up because she was trying to make me sound racist (replacing ‘illegal immigrant’ with ‘Mexican’) when it has nothing to do with the Medicaid discussion. What I was telling her is that - not to collectivize too much - illegal immigrants tend to have very low incomes, just like those on Medicaid. She acted as if someone who can’t pay for a heart transplant somehow deserves it just as much as someone who might be willing to pay $100,000 for it.

'I didn’t even want to discuss illegal immigrants anyway until that person brought the subject up because she was trying to make me sound racist (replacing ‘illegal immigrant’ with ‘Mexican’)’

Well its not an accurate representation. ‘Illegal’ immigrants can come from Cuba/Haiti/China/Mexico etc. Not saying you are racist of course, just guilty of improper classification. Anyways, back to the main topic.

When did I classify illegal immigrants as Mexican? I didn’t say anything about illegal immigrants or Mexicans until she said:

Apologies. I thought you said it. The playoffs have me distracted.

Haha, understandable.

‘Haha, understandable.’

I mean the Seahawks are..holding their own against the Saints…It’s an odd day. Let’s just say that.

Its unfortunate since these people were brought into the program at the point of a gun but these kinds of things are only going to get more prevalent as time wears on. These people do have a right to expect adequate medical care from the program as that is what was promised when their money was expropriated. Which is why we should be weaning our society off this crap and onto a free market.

Everyone should receive the same healthcare in America? Silly nonsense. Actually, you’re closer than you think to your socialist goal on that one. Pretty soon we’ll all have pretty shitty healthcare no matter what we’re willing to pay.

unchristian? I dare to dream…

Stealing is very un-christian.

Of course the Obama law created shortages, rationing, and what amounts to death panels.

What we need is ACTUAL health care reform.

What’s more, socialism has forced transplant patients to face death panels for the past thirty years:

It is illegal to sell or buy organs consensually…therefore we have such a shortage of organs that you’re more likely to die on an organ waiting list than to get a transplant, and your position on the list is decided by a PANEL, who judges you based on your lifestyle and their perception of your “need”. They actually decide to put you farther down on the list if you’re older, or smoke, et cetera, condemning you to death:
