Best and Worst Presidents

Who do you all think is the best President the U.S. has ever had? Many of you are probably thinking
Jefferson, and, although he was against many policies and had good thinking before his presidency, he went against most of those and expanded Federal power a lot as President ( LA purchase, Embargo Act, etc. )… I also see JFK as a good candidate for that position, as it was promising he was going to do something about the Federal Reserve, but he had some other bad policies, like a big welfare state, and never got to carry through with things like handling the Fed.

For the worst President, I think FDR would definitely be a candidate, for basically inventing the trend of huge government intervention into the economy and the creation of a huge welfare state that has become the norm. Also, as you all know, The New Deal might have been the worst thing to ever happen to the U.S. economically, especially in the long term. The other worst thing, economically, is the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 under Woodrow Wilson. The creation of it directly combats the Hayek’s Austrian Business Cycle Theory and clearly causes most of our economic problems still today.

So, the question is, who do you all think are the best Presidents? Guys like Jefferson or Kennedy with ups and downs, or guys like Cleveland that didn’t do much anything at all? And who do you all think is worst; FDR, Wilson, Teddy, or Lincoln?

Do a search. This topic has been addressed pretty thoroughly.

Oh, sorry. I have not seen it before, and I am making a list for class, and wanted to offer my side and hear the sides of others. Also, I searched for “best presidents” and got no results.

I’ll stray away from saying Jeffersion or Madison, very typical answers, and I’ll say that Warren Harding is the best ‘‘modern’’ president because he actually understood economics and knew how to cure the Depression of 1920, within a year, the country was back on its feet and actually brought about the Roaring 20s

Kind of hard to find folks on here cheering on a “best” president.

Try this.

Wilson is worse than FDR; Lincoln and Wilson are the very worst.

FDR at least pushed for repeal of Prohibition, plus he was only continuing what Wilson actually started (league of Nations, centralization of power, internationalism).

Those 3 men were some nasty tyrants who are burning in Hell if such a place exists.

My understanding is that he was more lethargic and interested in playing cards than principled about laissez-faire. Hoover nagged at him constantly to get active in the economy, and he was starting to come around to that position when the depression ended.

That’s just what I’ve been led to understand.
