Beyond the understanding of John Maynard Keynes

There is a funny joke by Mitch Hedburg that goes something like this:

“I think Pringles original intention was to make tennis balls. But on the day the rubber was supposed to show up they got a shipment of potatoes instead. Pringles is a really laid back company so they said 'Fuck it, cut ‘em up!’”

I’d love to see Paul Krugman’s response to this joke. If he laughed at it, I’d have to ask what he thought was so funny.

Keynesians treat capital as if it were homogeneous. A company that is capitalized to make tennis balls cannot simply, at the snap of a finger, start making potato chips. If Paul Krugman were to laugh, presumably he would be recognizing the absurdist element in the joke. But then, why would he treat capital as homogeneous in his economics.

By the way, I’m not sure why I made this a question. Didn’t mean to.

Mitch Hedburg is fucking awesome…

And apparently an Austrian, too!

you might be giving him to much credit. he was pointing out the pringles can looks like the tube you my tennis balls in. i don’t think it was deeper than that.

I miss Mitch though.

Because of acid i now realize butter is way better than margarine. I saw through the bullsh*t.

Wasn’t meant to be taken seriously!

I don’t have a girlfriend, but I do know a woman who would get mad if she heard me say that.

Greatest Comedian of All-Time.

I also wonder whether a broken elevator would be seen as a good thing by a Keynesian?

Perhaps it’s not. Maybe you’re right. I’m just a comedian trying to do my thing up here, man. Who the fuck are you?

That’s track 14 and it’s called “Attitude”.

It simply must be! The Pringles Corp can snap their fingers, turn their potato-choppin’/tennis-ball-makin’ capital into elevator-fixers and help the economy!
