Bioshock

What’s your rank? I’m Sergeant Major.

Got it, played it. Wasn’t that great. Like a single player version of WoW.

Yes, that’s the basic framework for all Bioware RPGs. I’m glad I’m not the only one that caught this. It matters little was dialogue option you pick, the response and outcome will be generally the same.

Revan: I’ll rape your face and eat your children.

Darth Malak: I suppose… I suppose you speak the truth. I alone must accept responsibility for my fate. I wanted to be Master of the Sith and ruler of the galaxy. But that destiny was not mine, Revan. [cough] It might have been yours, perhaps… but never mine. And in the end, as the darkness takes me, I am nothing.

or

Carth Onasi: I… could have stopped him. I could have stopped it all.

Revan: You’re an abysmal character. Get off my ship, and take your butthurt with you, or I’ll murder you.

Carth Onasi: Oh Master, I do not trust you! I cannot trust you, or anyone else ever again!

Carth Onasi: I’ve fought Saul for years, now, and if I ever catch up to him… he will regret what he’s done. He will regret it.

or

Carth Onasi: I… could have stopped him. I could have stopped it all.

Revan*:* It’s not your fault Carth. You did the best you could. Hug me.

Carth Onasi: Oh Master, I trust you! I can now learn to trust others!

Carth Onasi: I’ve fought Saul for years, now, and if I ever catch up to him… he will regret what he’s done. He will regret it.

Hey don’t knock KOTOR! Those were some good games.

Colonel I. How often do you play. PM me your username.

I don’t know man. I feel like if I did that then I would just own you at the Sub Base with my UMP45. It would be terrible and I’d hate to lose a friend like that. [:P]

Bawt its liek sew hopen (lol obawma) enderd, haw cud u nawt liek it?!?!?!?

4 exumpler:

The Chosen One: I’m not going with Duncan. He’s just troll bait for Ayn Rand’s grave rolling corpse, who will coerce me into drinking poison.

Duncan: I invoke the right conscription.

Me: Uh… Are you seriously pulling this crap again Bioware?

Bioware: Yes, now shut up and play before I use an appeal to popularity.

Duncan disembowels Sir Jory

Duncan: I am sorry.

Me: …

Duncan: But the joining is not yet complete. You are are called upon to submit yourself to the taint… for the greater good.

Me: …

Bioware: Wait! Here comes the best part!

Me: Oh very funny. Not only can I not refuse to drink the Darkspawn blood, but the only response of protest I can chose from is “I can’t believe you killed Sir Jory!”

Bioware: Wait for it…

Duncan: Take some time. When you’re ready, I’d like you to accompany me to a meeting with the king.

Me: I’m not choosing that option.

Bioware: Yes you are. Besides, it suits you.

Me: “I still feel in shock” that I settled for this generic rebound because Assassin’s Creed 2 was rented out.

Bioware: Yeah, whatever. See you when Mass Effect 2 comes out.

Me: I sold my 360 for this PS3. See you in hell.

Bioware: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Being the hardcore Dragon Age fetishist that I am, I’m all for a diversity of opinions. I’m a real bad boy. You, Laughing Man, however are an insane troll loser with no life, for saying that this gift from god of a game is not great. That is the equivalent of rating this game below 8, and that is simply anti-social behaviour.

Leave Dragon Age alone guys, I mean come on!

I know right? After all Dragon Age has done for LM, he just wants MOAR MOAR MOAR MOAR MOAR!

I’ve still not forgiven BIoware for dumping KOTOR III for a Forcedamn MMORPG. What the frak? That would be like making Halo 3 a PSP game in the style of Animal Crossing.

I’m probably going to be hung for this, but I’m more of a simulator man. I enjoy The Sims 2, SimCity’s 3000 and 4 and Civilization IV. Though it still makes me laugh being communist gives you a production bonus. Granted, if it were realistic, the Free Market option would give 2.5-8 times higher production (probably even more, since the 2.5-8 times is in relation to Keynesian agencies, which are not an option in game) than communism and completely obliterate every other civic while coming in the Renaissance era (as opposed to Modern era Greenie civic)

I played a caster in DAO. Got this far:

option1) I didn’t mean to help the blood mage! please send me with the guy to go fight against the dark ones!
option2) Get off my back. No one knew he was a blood mage. Psch. Fine. I’ll go with the guy to go fight against the dark ones.
option3) blood mages are cool. I knew it all along. I guess I’ll go fight against the dark ones.

then i quit, cus i didn’t want to walk around the new city delivering baskets from A to B, or being asked to collect 4 dark one’s hides, that I would find on my journey anyway, and turn them in for pieces of armor.

Also, i looked at the tech tree and it was like… man I can either get the direct damage spells, or I can get the damage over time spells, or I can get the buff spells that let me do more direct damage with my attacks, or I can get the leach spells that allow me to do less direct damage but live longer so I can do more direct damage. I CAN’T WAIT

looked shiny tho.

It’s eggsboggs.

I’m guessing I probably should have killed that Blood Mage instead of freeing him..

Correction: I just made Colonel II.

Hmmm, the spam bots are becoming as articulate as the Marxists. Should we be worried?

Perhaps.

Why don’t you play a real first-person shooter like Deus Ex, Crysis, Far Cry, STALKER, or somesuch.

Third-rate kiddy console ports do not qualift as first-person shooters. Hell, BioShock has minigames and childish environmental puzzles worthy of console platformers, and I wonder how these things they even throw into FPSes these days.

God damn Irrational, FPSes are supposed to be intense, brutal, uncompromising games like Doom or Quake, and not pseudo-intellectual cinematic fests like BioCrap or whatever newfangled Call of Duty stuff kids play these days.

Argh.

Relax. Breathe. Here, take this oxygen mask.

There are three types of spells:

  1. Opportunity cost

  2. Less effective than Primal

  3. Useless (Shapeshifting)

It was pretty fabulous that, in order to progress, I was forced to drag Wynne along for a speced healer. Even if you are well equipped and willing to deal with Carth-esque characters, your party members are as dumb as door knobs. During a battle Wynne sucked her thumb in a corner, and Morrigan kept casting her cone of cold spell at me. Ironically there isn’t really any point of using a warrior (other than for tanking) or rogue. They scratch and go down like newborn kittens, while mages murder everything in their path with ease and speed. Sadly, I couldn’t use that power to go around committing hate crimes against the Chantry.

Indeed, but the silly “morality” system was a pain in the knickers. Why the hell did I gain dark side points for participating in a gladiatorial fight? Not only did Starkiller fight me out of his volition, but it was his idea! It’s somewhat a minor deviation from the:

Good = Sparkly fairy princess who provides every NPC with his own safety net (psychic and monetary).

&

Bad = Jack the Ripper’s reptile cousin who urinates the corrosive essence of Genghis Khan on everyone.

Were you planning on cleaning this up?
