Any interesting video games about?
I, for one, find Bioshock to be quite fun. CSS is also good.
Also, if you want a free browser game, try Erepublik. There is a disproportionately large Libertarian population there (the Libs are the third largest party in the States I think). I can give out invites to gain gold (the game runs on a gold standard, though it is so far physically impossible to abolish taxes). If enough Misesians join, we might be able to do something cool (like, say, cut all taxes to 1-0% in whatever country we settle in and reject the local super alliances).
The Total War games and Paradox games are also quite fun.

Basically, you can join a country, run for president, get a job, fight in wars, etc
The poltical model is supposed to be improved eventually, but right now the only kind of government is a Republic and there is no seccesion.

The GTA series were pretty damn good. But the last one (GTA IV), I could never get to run right on my computer.
Most of the free games I’ve come across are pretty lame. But then again, I’m not into gaming as much as I used to. Probably a good thing.
Give me NCAA football 2010 for a console and Command and Conquer for PC and I’m set.
I’m big on simulation games, but sadly, they seem to be a dying breed. Probably a result of the late 2000’s consolemania. Cities XL is the only major recent simulation release, and it seems to fit in the category of “Games I’ll buy when expansion packs/mods add a good litany of features”. A patch just to add buses does not bode well as to the game’s completion status, nor does it’s indecisiveness as to it’s status as a singleplayer or multiplayer game. Compare SimCity 4, which, right off the bat, gives you bus stops, subways, railways, highways and avenues, and, with Rush Hour, toll booths and ferries.
In short, you could describe my taste in video games in culinary terms. The potatoes would be simulation games, the meat RPGs and the vegetables a mix of stealth and adventure games. Due to my outdated surplus computer (and my dislike for the trend of dumbing down good classic simulators while turning them into confusing, nausea inducing 3D trash), my games are restricted to an almost exclusively pre 2007 vintage, but this may change in future. I’m not much into consoles, though I’ve enjoyed the first Jak and Daxter game, Splinter Cell, Freedom Fighters and the Sly Cooper trilogy on PS2.
I myself am totally addicted to Dragon Age: Origins and the expansion for it that came out recently “Awakening”.
Very much looking forward to Civilization V. I own Civ IV but I uninstalled it from my computer, considering I quit playing it a long time ago.
You need only one game:
Open source. The Australian company went bankrupt back in 2001, so now some people are developing it themselves.
Note: In my opinion, somewhat old games were really great. Gothic II, Risen, Thief III, Battle Realms, Battlezone II, if you’ve never played them. Smart game design for smart people. I have basically no time anymore to play anything that I can’t play on the go (while working or in class). So WZ2100 on my laptop it is.
Paradox games are also quite fun.
I have Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis 3, Victoria and Hearts of Iron 2 & 3. Great games.
I love doing outrageous things like getting Turkey up to a 400 IC and taking over Europe.
I used to have a Civ game where it was like a race to build a spaceship but you could also build nukes and take everyone over so I’d just bomb people and take them over. I loved that game.
