Infiniti Ward is the Michael Bay of video game developers.
My computer is not fast enough for BioShock. I played Americas Army for years on TWL back in v1.9. I regard it as the best shooter game of all time. Nothing beats getting banned from every server for “cheating” to get 20-0 k/d, a.k.a standing behind a tree and waiting for dumbasses to walk past without looking to the side.
I can do even better.
Deus Ex.
Government does false flag attack on Statue of Liberty. Government manufactures virus and infects citizens. Government shoots down civilians that it labels as terrorists. Game ends in man from Hong Kong destroying centralised root of Illuminati power, and brings the world into an “enlightened dark age” of “city-states”.
Even less subtle.

Well it wasn’t like Deus Ex but it is certainly better then most these days.
Called it!
laminustacitus:
Modern Warfare, and Modern Warfare 2 are two of the best first person shooters to date, and they have the best fps online play hitherto.
Today I’m going to show you how to make Call of Duty 4!
You will require these necessary ingredients:
20 tablespoons of uninspired, claustrophobic box of a map
one jar of linear gameplay
one generic, military fps mixing bowl
a three-liter bottle of character motion
a year supply of finesse piece of tax-consuming human wood or Keanu Reeves substitute
a gallon of perk-laced water
big wooden spoon
Now I will demonstrate how I can make this recipe for disaster a reality!
Take the three-liter bottle of character motion, and let it sit in the freezer over night.
Find an anvil and drop it from tall building (minimum ten stories) on the Keanu Reeve’s back. Repeat step again with a replacement, if the result is more of messy than a cumbersome one.
Place the frozen stiff character motion and crippled Keanu Reeves together into the bowl; let it just sit there for 10-12 minutes.
Now add in the jar of linear gameplay, along with the 20 tablespoons of uninspired, claustrophobic map.
Hold the physics and AI.
Mix ingredients with big wooden spoon until you feel remorse.
Throw the solution in the oven before you have second thoughts, and wait until it catches on fire (you should have preheated oven to 350 F by now, so it’s your own goddamn fault if you haven’t).
Dump the gallon of perk-laced water on your charred masterpiece, and the sheeple will be none the wiser.
You have managed to make your very own watered-down fps! Be sure to aggrandize the delusion with the seasoning of the court jest… err I mean professional video game reviewers.
Now a word from our sponsors:

It would do you much good to actually know what you are talking about before you begin to type.

There were three different endings though, that was just one of them, I would be curious to go back and see if any of the three seem to be favored in a positive or negative way.

I completely played through the game the first time, loved it but neglected it. Reinstalled it two years later and I still discovered new paths. That to me is the pinnacle of a good game. Re playability. I shot Manderley the first time I saw him. Funny stuff.
Marko:
Government causes an intergalactic war, an individual called Freeman must clean up the mess. To do it he must battle alien invaders and government goons in equal measure. Very subtle.

Indeed. Deus Ex was also a great game. In general the 1998-2000 period was the best period for games ever. Fallout 2, System Shock 2, Planescape: Torment, Half-Life, Deus Ex. And you could spin each one in a libertarian manner, but with Half-Life and Deus Ex this is really heavily pronounced.

I’m sorry jealous templar. I can’t hear you over the sound of how awesome my Master Assassin Trophy (platinum) is.

A thread about brilliant FPS games and nobody has mentioned Half-Life yet!?
Oh, the shame of this world!
Alright, you implicitly asked for this:
Bioshock 2 is going to be epic.
And then there’s Yahtzee…
