Currently making my way through the new Walter Block book. He goes through theory and applications of road privatisation, but hasn’t mentioned much history. Anyone know of any books that deal specifically in a historical account of private roads?

Thomas Dilorenzo goes through some history of it in the early American Republic in his book How Capitalism Saved America.
I think DiLorenzo has at least one paper on it, in the Mises archives as well, specifically covering turnpikes, and perhaps canals as well.
